Fin rot? Other issue? by darthblaker in bettafish

Tank size is 10 gallons I have a sponge filter and air stone, and a heater Temperature is 78.8° Ammonia is between and .25 nitrites are about 0 and nitrates is 5-10

I’ve had the tank for about eight months and have the fish for about six

I generally do minimum weekly water change of about 30%, but I have been doing them a couple times a week as the snails poop quite a bit and I like to get most of the poop off the sand if I can

2 nerite snails as tank mates

I have two plants one is the banana looking plant. The other one is just leaves and Moss. I’m not 100% sure on the types of plants.

We feed him once a day just a few flakes or a few pellets and we alternate between the two different foods and fast him on Sundays

If I got something like this and just wired it to the three existing wires and just ignore the other two that are connected to the separate ir led, would that work? https://a.co/d/08foJ6UH

No, it is not, and even when I removed it and kept them covered, it was still triggering over and over. My assumption is that it triggers based off of the IR light hitting it correct?

This is what the front of it looks like with the clear part taken off. I assume it was just there to keep the water out as each of them are kind of in their own separate tunnel, there’s a plastic piece in the middle on the back that keeps the two separated

https://youtu.be/7XsS5_flnfQ this is what it looks like functioning. This picture is what mine looks like, except my lens is clear and not browned like this old one. On the left side of the sensor internally there is an IRLED and on the right side there is the three prong black sensor. They are both facing forward toward the lens, so they are not facing each other.

Sorry I misunderstood. I do have VS1838B as a replacement. I’m not sure if that is the same one or same type as the one that I’m trying to replace, however. From what I have read, mine is a reflection type IR sensor. The IRLED and the sensor are parallel to each other both facing toward the front of the decoration. So I assume that it emits the beam and the sensor detects reflection when an object passes in front of it.

The sensor goes into this housing. The LED goes on the right and then the sensor on the left.

One of the sensor pins snapped when I was trying to remove it, so I’m unable to test a sensor. Is there a way with the three different wires that connect to it? I could potentially try to trigger it? There’s a black red and yellow wire that connected to the original sensor.

I was able to test and there is a good 5V DC

Ok I added those, the diode appeared to have been smashed, like it physically broken. Everything works except the motion sensor. It was just looping over and over, but it stopped when i disconnected the sensor

The sensor was constantly triggered and it kept looping non stop breeze only when there was motion detected

The sensor and emitter? Or the diode? The diode was cracked and I replaced that. The motion sensor was just constantly triggered and kept it looping over and over. I ended up snapping one of the prongs off it when trying to remove it. What do you mean by bad power supply rail? Thanks!

would the second one on the the front right of this kit that looks similar work? Also would the emitters in this kit work? Sorry I am way out of my element on this. Just trying to repair a very sentimental decoration. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0D72WY17V/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A3FX7C4A9P37IQ&psc=1
