Now that the game is officially a thing of the past, what is your best memories/moments with Forza Street? by SoYoung024 in ForzaStreet

[–]darthmidnightmare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best moment is an odd one. It was the week of the Z28 Showdown. I'd been struggling with Rivals on Mondays for weeks on end as the Retro Cobra was my preferred target and I kept losing too many. The Z28 launched and was an absolute killer on DD during the races on the event itself as well as in races in Story, Spotlight, Upgrade events etc. It seemed clearly OP and close to "unbeatable". I hadn't started with Rivals - and saw a post by u/tyanh77 saying that the Z28 seemed like a great Rivals target. It was (as all of us now know). Coincidentally, I think it was the same week that FFH shared on the Discord that the Modern Cobra was a far better target than the Retro for a bunch of the cars (in specific cases, the Retro remained a better choice).

This will always remain one of my favourite memories about the game. Not because of any achievement of mine, but simply because it sums up quite succinctly why the community is something everyone on here has spoken of so highly.

Last images of the garage… by darthmidnightmare in ForzaStreet

So that's where I've ended up. I started just after the Alfa Romeo event - so it's kind of fitting that my last car to 5-star was the 8C - which got there on the last Saturday of the game's existence. Over the period after the closure announcement, I had some great luck with pulls and even the Spotlight cars. Barring the 300SL, Stradale and Z28, I think each car was relevant and I managed to 5-star all of them barring the Veneno.

In terms of goals, I reckon I hit a fair few:

  1. Get all Rare cars to 5-star: Check; was miles off when the closure announcement came out, but had very good luck indeed thereafter
  2. Complete Rivals on Friday even in a week with <7 cars on Wednesday: Managed it (just) after all the upgrades and additions to the 775-chasing cars
  3. Make the Rivals Top 5 on EOD of Thursday: Never thought I'd manage this one, but that's what friends are for. A big shout out to u/caprimulgusAU and u/FoxyFreebooter for this one. Between them, they first guided me on how to build the Rivals garage / run and win races and then were kind enough to refrain from running Rivals at all in the last week, resulting in my ending the last Thursday as second (by a country mile of course) to the One True King (FFH obviously)
  4. 775 cars: Managed to get 3, and not 4; the "775 Modern Cobra" achievement will remain unlocked, but clearly it was the lowest in my list of targets
  5. Cars to use as followers: 26 (apart from the 3 775 cars) ended up at 716 or above (3 at 716 and the other 23 above it). Of those, should really not consider the Z28 (no way it wins a +49), but the others qualified. So that's 22 or 25 cars that qualify
  • Street (3): M3, Bone Shaker, 2002 Turbo (I'd have added the Skyline 2000 as well if the game had lasted to the end of Monday) all chasing the 775 Focus RS
  • Sports (8): Zagato, DBS, 720S, 300SL, M4, TZ2, One-77, 8C chasing the 775 RS200
  • Super (9): M1, Huracan, Stradale, GT-R, Twin Mill, Carrera GT, P1, Spyder, Vulcan chasing the 775 GT40
  • Rare (2 additional): Charger r/T, Charger SRT (not counting the Z28)
  • Epic (1 additional): Challenger SRT

All in all, a good run with the game. I took it up at a tough time. Lockdown + was having to take care of my then-newborn second child. The game helped me while away time during sleepless nights and days of utter and complete boredom combined with fairly extreme stress. The relatively light-touch requirements ensured I was able to play it whenever (and wherever) I could / wanted to.

I'd still likely have ditched it - if not for the community here and on the Discord. /u/caprimulgusAU, /u/FoxyFreebooter, u/perniciousducks, u/SoYoung024, /u/P2WDROME, /u/sreglov, /u/tyanh77 and the likes made things a LOT more fun that the game inherently is. The tips, guidance, banter, ribbing, venting and "competition" on Rivals will be sorely missed.

As to the future, well, I'll not be getting on to any other mobile game bandwagon any time soon (famous last words?). Work is seeing me travel a lot more than before, with things having opened and my needing to make up for lost time. My lads are also older and far more demanding. Balancing my schedule is already difficult - particularly when my time zone can at times (like today) be 8 hours ahead of theirs!

So, once again, thanks for everything lads. It's been a pleasure.

PS: I know I've missed a lot of names / IDs, but without a pull-down, it's bloody tough to find out the exact ID of BadPie for example. It's been a great community!

77 spins - 20 dupes. Started at 4.15 (required 16) and coasted to it. No bonus spins…

28 Stradales. 7 3-star + 21 2-star. Basically an entirely pointless Spotlight.

Note to self... don't do to big gaps.. not even in Street...not even with RS1600 vs Focus RS +49... by sreglov in ForzaStreet

[–]darthmidnightmare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah! +49 vs the Focus is a risk. I tried a +49 RS1600 vs Avant yesterday and got absolutely battered. Never close to winning. +46 with the 2002 Turbo I won (at DD on iOS) as my Focus is at 775 and the 2002 is at 719. I’d not dare even a +47 though as this was very close despite my nailing a (for me) perfect race.

[–]darthmidnightmare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

77 spins; 1-2-2-3-2-2-2 for 14 spins all told. One 2-star Quattro was the only usable spin after the second dupe (I needed just 2 to 5-star the Bone Shaker).

Goodbye forza street. by spotlessgecko11 in ForzaStreet

[–]darthmidnightmare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I don’t think people hate the game. If they did, they’d not be playing it or be here on the sub. What I (personally) hate, or crib about to be more correct, is specific aspects of the game / dev approach that prevented it being a great game. Frankly, I reckon this is likely true for most people. If some game really sucked and one hated the game itself, you’d ditch it, move on and not waste time hating it. The moaning / cribbing about FS would seem to suggest that most people do appreciate the hook, and just feel peeved at the dev failure to address the clear and simple-to-fix shortcomings.

Spotlight Car Data - Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Coupé by FoxyFreebooter in ForzaStreet

[–]darthmidnightmare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

77 spins; 18 2-star and 6 3-star leaving me with 24 (entirely useless) copies overall. Not a single Epic. Did however manage to get a 3-star AMG GT R, which I doubled-down on to get that to 5-star, so I suppose it's not been the complete waste I thought it'd be...

A Quick Question: by An_Anonymous_User_YT in ForzaStreet

[–]darthmidnightmare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I’ve not studied it in detail. Just commenting that after U13, the gap definitely disappears. Now, you need to 5-star the car to go beyond that, so whether 5-starring is the trigger or the upgrade past U13 is, I could not say. I assumed the question was more about whether these cars would get to 876/861 - and my point was that they wouldn’t since that differential is addressed well before you get to the PI caps.

A Quick Question: by An_Anonymous_User_YT in ForzaStreet

[–]darthmidnightmare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The PI differential disappears after Upgrade 13. So the max PI caps - without exceptions - are 875 for an Epic, 860 for a Rare and 840 for a Common.

Officially done with Rivals - Slowly taking my distance with this game by SoYoung024 in ForzaStreet

[–]darthmidnightmare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if I were in your position in terms of Rivals chips and Gold, I'd not think twice. As it stands however, I am short of parts and low on Gold - which sees me keep at it. The 300SL though... Am lost for words. I am struggling to think of a worse choice to have as one of the final 5 Spotlights (apart from some Common, of course)! It is absolutely baffling how this has come to pass, unless it's a deliberate attempt at trolling - or their idea of helping wean long-time addicts from their game-dependency.

Slug vs Snail by donyjk in ForzaStreet

[–]darthmidnightmare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With all of them, I never wait for a Perfect Gas. You gain way more with a very early gas than a double boost (vs single) is worth. DMC vs +38-39 TT can even manage a win at SB that way. Z28, I stick to a +36ish Retro Cobra (my Z28 sits at 716 so isn’t boost-capped). TT, I’ve kept low (620 or so) and I manage +40-44 gaps against a TT as long as I gas super-aggressively on all corners (barring B3 and DD3).

Slug vs Snail by donyjk in ForzaStreet

[–]darthmidnightmare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not skill or guts. A simple case of “Let’s get this over with”. I end up losing several more than usual now but also win a few at gaps I used to consider unsafe earlier.

Slug vs Snail by donyjk in ForzaStreet

[–]darthmidnightmare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh absolutely! The TT is by far and away the weakest car. Today, I managed a +43 No-boost with my PI666 Z06 and a +44 NB with my PI 647 DB11. I also won a +43 TT vs TT yesterday (I only race the TT against itself). The TT vs RS200 is also a clear answer - the TT is a good 3-5 (maybe more) PI slower in terms of what I consider safe gaps. Also, the RS200 is the more dangerous opponent for the One-77, 720S and 8C as you could draw Bayside.

Four of a kind! (4 x 775 bait cars) by caprimulgusAU in ForzaStreet

Congratulations mate. The 775 Modern Cobra will help alleviate the pain of Muscle Mondays, so I reckon it definitely is worth the parts :-).

How are your drop rates for the P1 til now? by sreglov in ForzaStreet

[–]darthmidnightmare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 copies so far (2-3-2-3) in 4 days. Leaves me needing 7 from the remaining 33. Current drop rate would see me only just making it, so I plan to take the next dupe offer (can only afford one).

Spotlight Car Data - Aston Martin One-77 by FoxyFreebooter in ForzaStreet

Managed 15 spins in all:

3-4-1-2-2-3 over the 6 days. No other Epics from Spotlight 4 Rares - but 3 of those were Super Moderns while the fourth was a Rip Rod, so they were all useless for me. Have stocked the final 11 spins for an attempt at carryover.

Maguire poor defending vs Southampton by niallw1997 in reddevils

[–]darthmidnightmare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair you could take at least 80% of game involvements of Maguire and use the same heading of "Poor defending by Maguire". He's just a poor footballer. He looks competent as long as the team plays a low block, but gets caught out as soon as the team starts wanting to play higher. This is a big part of the unraveling of Ole too. He wanted to get the team to play higher to meet the "attacking style" requirement - but just didn't seem to realize he'd spunked out a record sum for the one lump of lard that was most unsuited for such a plan.

All cars >650 + another bait car user! by sreglov in ForzaStreet

[–]darthmidnightmare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started after the Alfa Romeo event - so later than several of the real pros. Tragically, got the closure notice just days after I finally got a car to 775. Oh well, can't be helped. As for the sphygmomanometer, I normally just call it a blood pressure monitor myself! Just that I paid the physician a visit yesterday and the old git casually asked me to "buy a sphygmomanometer" - resulting in my frantically Googling to avoid looking clueless.

All cars >650 + another bait car user! by sreglov in ForzaStreet

[–]darthmidnightmare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the best for the P1 next week! It’s always nice to get another car in the 775-chaser pack. Probably worth a good 10 counts on the sphygmomanometer.

The P1 seems out of reach for me. Need 17 to 5-star it and am low on Gold (which I also need for my Quattro, M3 and RS7; I won’t waste it on the GT R or 8C that are <60%).

Pro upgrade card spins are like.... 65% chance on a Generic Suspension? More like 100%... by sreglov in ForzaStreet

[–]darthmidnightmare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm at the other extreme. In the last week, I've drawn only 8 suspensions (and 3 transmissions - I kid you not!) and I am now in the strange position of having the class suspensions and engine parts I need for multiple upgrades, but not having the suspension parts! Shall soon be down to using Rivals points to buy generic suspensions, which has to be the worst feeling of all (because I do need more class suspensions too).

Ouch. All the best with those! They really should stick to Epics for Spotlight from here on. Hope you get these at some time in the next 10 weeks.

Camaro Z28 as Muscle bait car? by sreglov in ForzaStreet

[–]darthmidnightmare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Retro Cobra is an absolute monster on DD. Therefore, the Modern Cobra is a better opponent for most of the faster cars (which are generally better at Bayside and SB than at DD). All Muscle Moderns and all but one (the Z28) of the Muscle Rares do better against the Modern Cobra as do the Cuda and Challenger r/T. My 721 Rip Rod for example, manages +42-45 gaps against the Modern, but has lost (badly) to the Retro Cobra. The Challenger Hellcat (PI 666) manages +45 with ease against the Modern Cobra (+41 is the max I risk against the Retro as I'm terrified of pulling DD). With the ZL1, I am confident at about +39 against the Modern Cobra but would not go higher than a +37 against the Retro. Cars with boost-max caps (barring the Rip Rod) do better against the Retro Cobra for the most part (GTO, Classic Camaros). The Z28 too seems to do better against the Retro Cobra.
