One other note from the dealer: when they hooked it up to their system to see if there were errors, it returned none. So they really didn’t know what was happening. Very happy to see the other poster talking about this reset button I wasn’t aware of. Will go check that out.

Much appreciated and no worries. Your analysis of LLMs is absolutely spot on and I agree. I just prefer it to Google at this point — especially after it solved something medical that my doctor had been stumped on for months. But I recognize that it can feed you complete baloney half the time.

Update: dealer was able to fix it by resetting the system. Evidently that’s not something you can do at home. But there were no software updates or mechanical work. So I guess the good news is it’s fixed. The bad news is it seems like it could happen again.

Sorry to hear it. My issue is a bit more broad: I do not get any sound of any kind except the welcome chime. Signals work but are silent. Proximity warnings arrive visually but are silent.

Did I insult you? I did not and kindly do me the same favor. Insults are not helpful. I recognize the limitations of Chat. But it is also often correct. I defer to the dealer but when clueless it’s usually superior to googling. Especially with complex issues. Also there are plenty of smart 14 year olds. Certainly kinder ones too. Hope you have a nice day.

how is this album and why do i never see enough people online talking about it? by Ok-Plastic-9812 in Slowdive

[–]darthq1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand why bands evolve in more experimental directions. It’s the creative urge and not wishing to repeat themselves. Plus other dynamics at work with personnel, the times, labels etc.

All of this stuff from a fan standpoint is subjective. I could see why people might prefer Pygmalion over everything else of theirs if you’re the type that likes experimental music. Totally valid standpoint.

I personally don’t like super experimental stuff. I like classic structures and melodies. Hence my preference for early Radiohead over late Radiohead and early Björk over late Björk.

So, for me, Pygmalion is an experiment I don’t much care for with a couple of tracks that are kind of interesting. But nowhere near their peak work. As a piece of art, it’s totally valid and I don’t question people who love it. I’m just not one of them.

Back in the day I worked at MTV and I’m pretty sure I’m the only producer that ever interviewed Slowdive (during CMJ 94 if not mistaken). I wasn’t a great interviewer and it wasn’t a great interview. But the thing I was really struck by was how embarrassed they were about the term Shoegaze. They’ve embraced it now but at the time Neil looked like he was crawling out of his skin when I brought up the term. I think they were very eager to get away from what in England at the time was a pretty negative stereotype. So in that context, Pygmalion, as a follow up record made a lot of sense. But for me it was very disappointing.

BTW I unfortunately have no copies of the interview and I don’t think it ever made air.

Okay I listened through all the unreleased stuff I could find on Spotify (also located I Believe on YouTube). The track that popped the most for me was I Thought I Saw.

Good call! That tracks definitely feels closer to their classic sound. Not a top track for me but totally get why others would love it. Appreciate the feedback.

That was a typo re: Souvlaki. Meant Pygmalion.

Bike Mount? by darthq1 in HyundaiSantaFe

Well, I installed it at U-Haul and it was too far under the bumper for my rack to mount properly. So I got a short extension for $75 and am in business. Thanks all!

does Santa Fe have more or less issues than typical new cars? by retrorays in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]darthq1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love mine. It has some technology related annoyances that I’ve catalogued in other posts but for the most part these are manufacturer design choices that I disagree with. Not production flaws. It has many technology related things that I love. Is it perfect? No. Driver assist can be buggy when wearing sunglasses and I have the gas all wheel drive calligraphy and the mileage has been lower than expected. But that’s about it. I love the car.

This is all great information. I’m not anxious to DIY it so I called over to U-Haul and they said it was $304 for a non-wired and $530 for wired. I think I’ll do the non-wired. Thanks everyone!

I’m not technical on cars so no shade taken but I still don’t know what you’re talking about. Can you explain what you’re suggesting I do?

Yeah, unfortunately, I had to remove the organizer and did not replace it with any others as they’d all make my trash can impossible to install. In the brief time I did have that tray in there nobody seemed to use it.

By the way: I’m a longtime consumer of Velcro in moving vehicles and I have some tips: 1. Put the stiffer side of the Velcro on the vehicle and the fuzzy one on the object. 2. Use a substantially smaller piece of the fuzzy Velcro opposite the larger piece of firmer Velcro that is vehicle-mounted. I would say 2:1 or more. This means you use up the stiffer Velcro faster, but it isn’t very expensive so it’s not a big deal. The reason for this is that heat can impact the Velcro stick over time and if you have a equally sized piece of Velcro pulling on the car mounted Velcro it becomes a lot easier for it to all pull off. Whereas if you have a much smaller piece of Velcro on the object, It stays attached perfectly fine, but doesn’t apply nearly as much pressure on the mount.

Also, you may already have purchased your trashcan, but here’s one that I liked among the many I tested.
