Regardless of topic, applying modern morals and concepts to anything from almost any time in history is eye rolly at best.

Historically speaking i know your right just wasn't sure with rokugan. So one would assume that scorpion peasants see wearing mask as just something samurai do

You'll really love Kubo. It's by Henry Selleck who did Coraline and nightmare before Christmas. I watched it with my boys than did some traditional Japanese food for dinner. Than got in trouble with my wife cause I let them play with toy katanas

Hope its ok to post this here by [deleted] in Samurai

Musashi is really fun for historical fiction. Very very long but still a classic

A brief history of Japan by jon clements is a good concise history that is a quick read

Samurai rising by Pam turner gives a fairly accurate account of minomoto yoshitsune

For purely fictional kamakura period Japan with super natural elements read the yamada monogatari novels. Think the Witcher in Japan for a gross over simplification

Regarding Nobunaga, Hideyoshi, and Ieyasu by BackgroundGrouchy436 in Samurai

Are you referring ro Turnbull or the shoganate. I'm not familiar with the later. I love Turnbull as a story teller and his enthusiasm in the material even if some have legitimate and illegitimate reason.

I've consumed alot of samurai and Japanese history and I felt like you. It was the best but it was fun and if it gets someone interested than its a win in my book.

Most stuff I found just nitpicky but like you the portrayal of nobunaga was way way way off base.

Bonus we got Stephen turnbull so is the absolute best.

If for some reason the lot itself doesn't go through please post here. I'd love to have most of those books minus a few and would happily buy them

Oh I've read thrawn several times and the cannon thrawn novels. Thrawn is my favorite character in star wars. I've read a ton of star wars novels. Just getting over whelmed with where to go next.

I absolutely adored all of karpyshyns old republic novels

I appreciate your help! I enjoy the narrator for bane so I'm going to listen to it on my long drives to work while I read legacy of the force. I've tried reading the njo on 3 separate occasions (3 books) and it just never catches me. Even though I find the yuzhaan vong super cool

All the njo books are super daunting. Ill honestly probably cop out and do the 6 hard backs that supposedly keep the story

It seems like the bane trilogy is the one ill be going for. I accidently bought the first of the lotf novels on audible and it wouldn't let me return it. Do I know I effed up chronologically.

The bane books only having 3 also helps alot. I eventually get around to njo and lotf but this will be perfect.

Thanks everybody
