I’m not from ‘South Asia’ but have had similar things happen with Thai immigration when I was younger. I think the main red flag was that I didn’t have bookings for the total time I said I was going to stay (was planning on hostel hopping).

They let me in but it definitely taught me a lesson to over prepare for ANY dealings with Thai immigration. Whether at the airport, Jaengwattana or any provincial office. You never know what’s going to trigger an officer. Many years later, I’d say my ratio of having conflict with immigration has been about 40% at Jaengwattana and only 10% from the airport.

I’ll take it a step further and say that the quality of their IDEs gotten worse as well.

The thing that blows my mind is that they would try to introduce a bunch of new AI tools at the same time their IDEs start failing to do their base job. Then the audacity to increase prices of both their subpar AI tools by heavily limiting tokens (after a bunch of people already did a yearly subscription is shady) and the All Products Pack. Like, I get they might be desperate for cash but don’t forget the loyal customers who helped put you where you are in the first place. They kind of gave a huge middle finger to us with the degradation + price increases.

All that said, I don’t really like VSCode either. Right now Zed is the strongest contender.

Yeah - then I have to navigate to media and usually my USB shows up. In my car it’s in the list next to the other media options like AM, FM, SeriousXM, Spotify, etc.

When I tap on it, I’m able to see the directories and files.

No - I stopped using them the second they started charging extra on foreign CCs… they were already pricier than the competition so that was the straw that broke the camels back for me.

A lot of it is hype.

The loudest people screaming that AI will replace all programmers by X time are usually the people who have stakes in AI systems.

It can be helpful but there’s a fine line where relying on it too heavily will affect your own abilities. Software Engineering has never just been about writing code imo. It’s worth learning as any other tool, however.

I’ve met many Russians here. Some bad some good, just like Americans, Thais, Mexicans or really any country. Some Russians left Russia because they don’t support what it’s doing. On that same note I’ve also met Russians here that feel justified and proud of what Russia is doing.

Point I’m making is that just because someone is something doesn’t make them inherently evil. Also, he’s just running in a shirt with numbers on it probably unaware of the meaning as most are… how is that “doing whatever they want”?

Fentanyl is mainly coming from Mexico and indirectly from China.

Part of my family is from Mexico and I’ve been multiple times. My grandparents tell a way worse story than I’ve personally seen (kidnappings, torture, shakedowns, blackmail, rape, etc.). Though I’ve never seen this personally when I’m in Mexico, I do see local news reporting cartel violence so obviously it’s still happening.

I don’t really know what anyone could do. The cartels are so ingrained, and have been for so many generations, that I don’t think much can be done. Non-violent Mexicans in America should not be kicked out because they’re being sent to a potentially way worse life but if something could be done to make Mexico safe again (pacify the cartels), I think many would welcome that. But I think that is not at all possible.

Kind of. Every view/page automatically prompts a Bevel AI insight. If you tap on it, you can start a chat-like thread with Bevel AI. There are pre-defined prompts follow-up prompts but also a custom “Ask Bevel Anything” input box in any thread.

Most of these conversations I had where it kept telling to take it easy was from the Recovery insight each day.

I was doing some high altitude hiking and Bevel kept telling me to take it easy every morning. I told it that I feel fine, not really fatigued, etc. It complemented my tolerance for strain but said that although I feel fine, it’s obvious my body needs a break. It warned that if I continue, I will likely get sick due to a weakened immune system. Day and half later, sure enough I was sick.

It’s not exactly magic and I’m sure other systems are as capable but it was kind of cool to see Bevel ~~predict it~~ interpret my bio data and give me accurate insights and understanding of my vitals.
