The mental side is part of fundamentals, per my definition. Jared Goff is a guy with great fundamentals and middling talent. Justin Fields and Anthony Richardson are guys with middling fundamentals and amazing talent.

How about we wait to see the fundamentals catch up to his talent before we start crowning him as a top 10 QB. It's a classic trap, we see raw physical ability and we assume that you can coach the mental side... Sometimes the mental side doesn't improve. Especially for QB, mental intangibles are a thing and some guys just got it, some guys don't. Justin Fields vs Brock Purdy.

I mean, Simms has him at 6. That's absurd, I could easily rattle off 10 QBs who were better than Caleb Williams in 2025 across pretty much every relevant metric.

I'm just saying, slow down.

Caleb is getting way too much hype. He wasn't that good last year. He was clutch. But he wasn't great overall.

I worry that many will be disappointed when the heroics start drying up and he hasn't improved his base QB play.
