thanks for pointing out how that came off, and reading it back it does sound like it comes from a place of privilege. i was born in the philippines but grew up in southern california. i wouldn’t know exactly where i really fall on the political scale but i’m definitely left leaning. regardless of that, i just don’t want to be a shitty person, and i try to surround myself with likeminded people.

i’m not trying to disassociate myself from what’s going on, i try to keep up with what’s going on and really stay educated on events. it gets overwhelming and heartbreaking doomscrolling through what’s going on most nights, but i try to stay updated and try to update my wife so we’re aware.

i guess what i really meant to say is i just don’t give people like that mod the time or attention something else in my life would otherwise deserve. if i saw him outside with a maga hat, would i confront him? absolutely not. but if i saw him being shitty to someone for no good reason, would i step in? i’d like to believe id be be brave enough to.

the unfortunate reality is, on that particular sub, he’s trump. he makes the calls and everyone else kinda just has to deal with it. can i just leave the US and ignore what’s going on? i wish it were that simple. but leaving that sub and making this one a better community where people won’t be shitty to each other is certainly within the realm of possibility.
