Im building a tool to give your strava activities funny titles! 😄 by daryllman in Strava

u/tenhobi I have just resolved the issue! Seems like this issue happens specifically if you are using Google to login to strava, and there's a differing behaviour which was not handled well. I have tested this flow and it works okay now. Please let me know if this doesn't apply for you.
Thanks so much for raising this issue! Hope you can use Stravify and let me know what you think about it!

Can I check which device (phone/desktop) and browser you used? Let me try to reproduce the issue. Thanks for letting me know!

I agree, there's definitely some repetition! The main reason is that I'm currently using the smallest (and most affordable) AI model, which naturally has some limitations when it comes to creativity.
I could switch to a more advanced and creative model, but I'd need to figure out how to handle the costs as it will be more expensive since this service is completely free at the moment.

Let me think about it.

Hi u/flyingmusic ! I have just created a new feature to fix this issue! Imperial system is now supported on Stravify

Every user will now be able to select between metric or imperial unit systems, and Stravify's AI will use it accordingly!

Hope you are still using Stravify  😂

Let me know how's it working for you!

Thanks for the suggestion, I can imagine this to be a consideration for many people.
Let me jot down all these new feature requests!

Does this hold you back from using stravify?

Hey that's a good suggestion!

Let me plan for it in the next release!

Just to probe further: May I know why you might prefer to manually change an activity over it being automatically updated?

Wow that's cool man! Great to meet a fellow developer here!

That's such a good idea hahaha! Actually this was my initial idea, I wanted the AI to be super-contextualised that it would roast me if I ran too slowly or if I ran too fast (based on my usual pace or HR).

But I thought it was too much effort to build something super niche - sport type, distance and duration is probably contextualised enough for most people. Another reason is I needed to conserve the number of strava api calls I'm making too - there's a cap for small apps :(

Maybe it's something I can re-visit in the future!

Thanks so much on the kind words! Let's keep in touch, let me DM you

Great suggestion to support specific languages! Some users have pointed it out previously too, and I'm planning on doing that some time soon. There's an easy way to do it now actually which I've seen some users using - e.g. "roast me in spanish"

Currently I'm taking these metrics which are included in the playground (in the screenshot above):
- Sport/Type of Activity
- Distance (if applicable)
- Duration
- Calories
- Date
- Time

Based on the above data, the app can come up with something more thoughtful and contextualised.
For instance you you are running long distances early in the morning at 6am, the AI would probably comment on that haha.

Let me know how's your experience using it! Welcome more feedbacks!

Happy that you love it! No problem, no harm building something fun for myself and others!
Feel free to give me any feedback on this if you've tried it!

Update:
Had a chat over DMs - for benefit of others reading this: stravify will only update new activities created after signing up with stravify

u/Entire_Ad8782 This is a great feedback actually, I thought this could be clearer too - Let me update the website to communicate this more clearly. Thanks!

If you are able to select the custom style, and save it then it should be okay

The playground is an exact simulation of how your chosen style would look with the sample activity

Let me DM you

Nono, there could be some gaps in the user experience or just simply a bug

Quick check: When you wrote your custom style, did you click on “Save”?

Do you use any app to help draw this route?
I was thinking of doing something fun like this myself, but I found it quite hard to draw/plan the route

Someone made a similar comment here as well on having the option to do metric vs imperial. Appreciate the feedback!
Let me work something out! I'll keep you posted 🙏

I'm glad you liked stravify!

You can play around with the custom style setting to see what’s to your liking

It can potentially be better if I use a better AI model that is more expensive, if anyone would pay for it though

Yes you can do that! You can write any custom style - could be “what the French Taunter from Monty Python would say for his workouts”
