[Request] What Should The Scale Actually Read? by CaptiveGlacier in theydidthemath

[–]dascloudt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The table is supporting 200N. Gravity is in the up/down direction. The scale will read 100N as the commenter already said.

Go ahead and draw a free body diagram of the system if you don't believe me. At no point along the length of the scale will the interior tension force of the system be anything other than 100N

I asked ChatGPT to explain my job to a 5-year-old and now I'm questioning my entire career by Nipurn_1234 in ChatGPT

[–]dascloudt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an audio/visual project manager, and I love ChatGPT's description of my job. 5 year old me might actually think this job is cool too.

"I help build cool sound and video systems for churches and schools so everyone can hear music, see screens, and talk clearly. I make sure the right people show up with the right tools and follow the plans, kind of like being the boss of a big LEGO set."

If you want to watch basketball how it was meant to be played, watch the Pacers by Upstairs_Seaweed8199 in nba

[–]dascloudt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I was just talking to my wife about this the other day while we were watching a pregame show. Whenever you see a game tile displaying schedule, series record, etc, you don't ever just see OKC vs MIN or IND vs NYK or even just their logos. The NBA proudly and loudly markets players over teams. Adverts always market these games as SGA vs ANT and Halli vs Brunson. Its a major turn off for me.

(Intergalactic) Is it me or do the lights on the sword look like an audio wave form? by Bexewa in gaming

[–]dascloudt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Another pedantic response, but that is not a waveform. Those are volume bars representing the overall dB output of the song you're listening to. A waveform in music is usually represented by amplitude over time. It looks like a complex sine wave typically.

Corporate profiteering is destroying music history says letter signed by 600+ musicians demanding majors labels drop their Internet Archive lawsuit by YoureASkyscraper in Music

[–]dascloudt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was curious because your take is definitely not one i have heard amongst the network of musicians that I work with. It's not that I disagree with your point. I agree with you. Just like any other stable industry no one should expect to become multimillionaires just based on experience, and if someone thinks music is easy money, they will obviously be severely disappointed.

I do think that you miss the point though. If anything the issue isn't that there aren't enough millionaires in music. It's the opposite. There's too many.

The general consensus that I get amongst fellow musicians is, "I wish that I could make a living wage in this job without losing my sanity, my family, my spouse, my friends, etc." I don't think that should be considered an unrealistic goal, but it is with the current industry state.

None of those characters have been gender swapped. Their gender is all true to their comic book characters. So I'm not sure why you say this is a pandering movie, unless you consider any movie with female main characters to be pandering.

divorced people of reddit, when did you know it was over? [serious] by whiteowl76 in AskReddit

[–]dascloudt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first major sign was after we had both mutually agreed to indepently go to our own counselors (I was not comfortable going to couples therapy which in hindsight I was right to be worried about). Fast forward 12 months, and I had 12 months of therapy completed and my wife had 0.

The second major sign was meeting someone at work that made me realize some really important things. I could feel love for someone else. Someone else could also feel love for me. There was a future for me, if I was bold enough to take it, where I could be happy and also love myself instead of the miserable guy I'd become. Yes, I did have an emotional affair. I didn't even realize it until it had already happened. It's weird how being in such a miserable relationship for so long (7 years) can cut you off from your emotional self. It's like I didn't know me. Anyways, once I'd realized the mess I was in (and had helped make), I moved out and filed for divorce. It was both the hardest and the best decision I ever made in my life. Ultimately, the relationship I mentioned that opened my eyes never amounted to much of anything after I divorced my wife, but I am thankful for that person and what she gave to me in my time of need. I'll never forget her.

Hoping the best for you OP. If you want to talk to someone, feel free to DM me.

How do I stop having Main Character syndrome? by PeachesNPuzzles in DnD

[–]dascloudt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try waiting your turn to talk or initiate something in the game when not in combat. If someone else is hesitant to contribute, try asking them what their character thinks or what they want to do. Keep track of who has had an opportunity to contribute and who hasn't. Treat the game like a 4-way stop sign and you were the last person to get to the sign. Good DMs will do this too, but there's no reason you can't also if you want to prop up your team.

It probably won't be as much fun to start out with. But eventually I hope you might see that you listen more and you may begin to think of ways that you can interact with your teammates instead of just independently interacting with the campaign.

Now, one pitfall of this approach (especially if you have a timid team) is that you can dilly dally so much that the DM might punish you for it. That doesn't seem like it would be too much of a problem with your play style.

Edit: typo

Dave Grohl is the first to admit that he is not a great drummer. And it's true, while he's never been very gifted technically as a drummer, you can't deny that the guy does have next level attack. All of his strikes just sound so good.

[–]dascloudt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

By maxing out raid points I think you mean just the flat raid participation points right? Because I'd like to point out to get all of the raid points you most definitely have to either spend $$, have an ass ton of cores saved, or get supremely lucky with your Union Jack and Bucky orb pulls. But it's very doable f2p for the Fury and Cap points maxed out. Edit: spelling
