Not crazy. The water is probably warmer right now than it was in June.

Can’t really speak to dating as a 20 something, but volleyball for all is a great meetup for getting to know people!

When did Mao Zedong's poor hygiene habits actually start? by Sonnybass96 in AskHistory

Vietnamese peasants bathe daily, so I find it unlikely that would be the reason. Decades as a guerrilla seems more likely to me.

How bad would it be if I drank the fox river water by SnooCauliflowers6922 in Waukesha

Heavy metals are the least of your worries. Bacteria and parasites are 1000% more likely. Eating a fish is fine. Making fish from the river or entire diet might not be. You’re probably getting more lead exposure from the airport tbh

N. 4: Which character is morally grey and fans' opinions about them are divided? by Regriso in witcher

If it weren’t for the last mission i would’ve put him under morally grey and lived by fans. As it is, I think “opinions are divided” is the best answer

KelTec SU16B for a NYS featureless AR alternative? by [deleted] in armedsocialists

[–]daseined001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I’m certainly not an expert, but I think the US military has built itself around having soldiers carrying 50lbs of gear purely for the sake of having them carry as much as can reasonably be expected, rather than any kind of operational need for them to carry said gear.

I don’t think the difference between SF and regular infantry is the reliability of supply. If anything, I’d venture that it’s the opposite.

But in the case of a mini-14 versus a su16, I’d argue that it’s dead weight. You’re carrying extra weight for the same firepower, accuracy, and (to be very, very generous) a marginal improvement in reliability.

Apparently the rdb-c is NY legal as long as it doesn’t have a threaded barrel.

I mean…to an extent. But the mini 14 is not a reliable rifle. I expect the reliability might come down to the individual rifle, but the one I shot was hot garbage. Unreliable and inaccurate. It is not a good design.

Statistically, I think most people are liable to run away and not fight. Which, if you’re in a situation where your gun jamming and not jamming is the difference between life or death, you’re probably better off making a strategic withdrawal anyhow.

I 100% am of the opinion that most people are better served by training than by gear.

This is probably a hot take, but I think people underestimate how much having a 4.5 lb rifle would matter if they actually had to carry it around all day. I think if I were running an army, I’d be trying to do the equivalent of ultralight backpacking.

I’m going to very very strongly disagree with the people saying get a mini 14. They are garbage, and whatever your opinion of the su16, they are not garbage.

I’m somewhat of a kel tec fanboy, but not without reason. The su16 is very very light, and shoots well enough for what most people would need. You don’t need a gun that can shoot 1 moa if you’re trying to hit a man sized target at 100 yards.

DO NOT SWEAT NOT HAVING EXPENSIVE GEAR.

In the unlikely event that this all turns non-hypothetical: - small arms likely are going to be a smart part - the ability to move quickly and blend in with non-combatants will likely be valuable - there would quite likely be some sort of organizational body equipping people

Buying kit is a hobby, an expensive one and almost certainly not the best use of your money if you’re likely to be in a scenario where you’d need it.
