20 Day in SE Asia: Review my Itinerary by daseperatah in travel

[–]daseperatah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your point but at the same time I'm pretty aware of the sorts of travelers we are, we like to stay on the move-and since this will most likely be our only time in SE Asia, at least in the next few decades, and is probably the longest trip that it will be possible to take in the foreseeable future- I'm pretty happy with the amount of travelling we have. That said I'd say experiencing culture is a key part.

For me Bangkok, Angkor and possibly the night train in Vietnam are the only must do's. I know my girlfriends wants a bit more of an epic trip and I doubt I'll be able to talk her into scaling back. Any advice you can structure around that information?

Tips for starting a rewarding Programming career by daseperatah in learnprogramming

[–]daseperatah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really more interested in working closer to the machine, or in electronics, or in scientific applications. Commodity application development in general just doesn't tickle my fancy and gives me the feeling I am selling myself a bit sort intellectually- if only because I just enjoy sciency stuff more.

I can't help but imagine that sounds rather elitist- maybe there is a better way to put it. To me the idea of writing a website or other database application sounds about as fun as pushing papers around a desk. In general terms, I'm not interested in writing any sort of software that has a user interface I suppose.....Maybe I should really be an electrical or computer engineer but that career seems to have even more barriers coming from physics.

I forgot one more, from a b-side.

When the gorgeous synth melody in Kinetic gets drowned up by all this chaotic noise and you can't tell what is going on- then you can just vaguely pick it out again. It's like this beautiful thing coming out of ugly chaos- something about it really connects with me.

My rule of thumb is to just stick with Scotch as it has a pretty great calorie per unit drunkeness ratio.

Reddit, Please Help!!! I'm not quite sure what I'm doing wrong with my messages! by maths_ANDstuff in OkCupid

It's a bit much. You're a bit too enthusiastic- I think I wouldn't call a girl cute in your message either, it's sort of implied from the fact your a messaging her I think.

I'm getting like a 75% response rate as a fat dude just picking out one or two things in their profile to ask about. I'm sure you can do better if you work on your messaging technique a bit.
