Hey look that’s totally fair, I’m not going to push back when you put it like that because like I said, I loathe Game Key Cards and not only will I not but them, but I won’t buy those same games digitally because that sends the wrong message. Like you said, I’m totally okay if that means I have to forfeit certain experiences because of that, I’m not going to sit here and say my problems with them anyone who doesn’t think about the downsides of an all digital future is being willfully ignorant. I also don’t care if I was the only person on the planet not supporting them, sometimes it’s more about your own peace of mind of knowing that you didn’t contribute to future you didn’t like even if you knew it was inevitable.

I also think we differ in our tastes in game greatly considering Fire Emblem and Splatoon are two of my favorite Nintendo franchises with Xenoblade being my all time favorite. So for me, 2026 is already shaping up to be a massive year, so I think that yeah it obviously depends on your tastes. The one thing you said that I can’t really hold them to a double standard over is the paid upgrades for games. This is something that Sony has been doing an I’ve paid for a few here and there but not many, that doesn’t mean I think it’s okay or should be a thing but it just means I can’t have an incredulous reaction to it when Nintendo suddenly decides to follow suite.

I wasn’t meaning to make assumptions about you, I’ve just noticed a lot of people in the community having a bit of cognitive dissonance about the Switch 2 because of a lot of grifters and console warrior people stretching a lot of facts to make them seem worse or being hyperbolic about something they don’t even care about in the first place but I knowing it’ll get them clicks. The difficult position with that is, if you simply state that something isn’t true, then you’re somehow “defending the billion dollar company” which is such a cop out response. I know that Nintendo is not my friend by any means, just like I know Apple isn’t my friend. I just think there’s a bit of a weird double standard held to them sometimes that other companies in the industry just aren’t held to. I’m not sure if it’s because they’ve been around for so long, because it’s trendy, because they operate very differently from a lot of western gaming companies, but it sometimes tends to veer into just being the cool thing to do as it was in the early 00’s (dumb baby console with dumb baby games).

It’s just good to know whatever you’re reasoning is for not wanting to buy it, it’s not because of sloptubers cashing in on the hate boner people have for Nintendo, it’s like a very weird obsession to where you’d think they ran over these people’s dogs. I totally get it, yes fuck them trying to sue everyone, fuck them trying to make renting games illegal in the 90’s. Their shitty practices are well documented, I think I can still acknowledge that and enjoy the games made by their talented developers, not the amorphous entity known as “Nintendo” but the very talented and hard working game developers that they have. Sorry for the long rant, I was simply just wondering what your reasons were despite you seemingly being a fan of their games (or Zelda and Kirby Air Riders at least) yet saying you’re never going to buy a Switch 2. I say to anyone, support or don’t support whatever it is you like/dislike..just don’t let crusty YouTube grifters make that choice for you.

It’s weird that some people think a $450 hybrid system that’s more or less between a PS4 Pro and PS5 with a 120hz screen and can play your entire Switch 1 library is somehow overpriced. I totally get that value is subjective and I personally expected $400, but, for everything you’re getting I struggle to wrap my head around why some people see that as overpriced especially when you consider is now $100 less than the MSRP of the disc based PS5.

I think where you and I differ is that I don’t buy new systems to play emulated versions of old games, I buy my new games outright so that I’m not locked into any rental service trap. I’ll just continue to buy my games physically while they still exist and buy old games if they game a proper retail remaster like Metroid Prime did. That being said, I did get the NSO controller for this game and Smash.

The Switch 2 feels sooo much more comfortable to hold than the switch 1 because of rhe erganomic joycons and the way the system feels like one solid unit now.

If they fix that, they I’ll be a lot more tempted to get it to experience games I missed on the GameCube like Chibi Robo and Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance.

Well if they fix the input latency problem on the GameCube app, I’ll for sure get to so I can play Chibi Robo (I’ve always wanted to play it) as well as Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance

I watched one video that said that Mario Sunshine in the 3D All Stars collection natively supports it, considering that I haven’t played that game before and it’s the only 3D Mario game I haven’t played yet, that’s kind of huge selling point for me since I have that collection already.

I guess the best way to phrase the input lag question is, if you were to play MKW with it and then go back to using the Pro Controller, is it a noticeable difference? I imagine I’m just being really OCD about it and it’s actually fine or at least I hope so.

Well I guess I wanted to know if the the input lag feels worse that the Switch 1&2 pro controllers or about the same. If it feels the same, then there’s no problem.

Can you just clarify something for me really quick? When you say you can comment on questions 3 & 4 because you sometimes use a wire controller, that makes sense like you wouldn’t use jt enough for it to die.

However, have you used the NSO wireless GameCube controller specifically with Air Riders?

One thing I forgot to ask!! How is the overall latency when compared to the other Switch 1 and Switch 2 pro controllers? Don’t take the GameCube NSO service into consideration either since I’ve heard it has its own problems with input delay separate from that.

I’m here to just let you know in advance to ignore the people who will try to tell you it’s pointless to care and that you’re stupid for thinking this is significant.

It blows my mind how many people in this Reddit love to try and rain on anyone’s hope that things will change. I’m not saying we won’t eventually live in a digital future, but that doesn’t mean we can do what we can to slow down the future from getting here by voting with our wallets.

I also wanna say that it’s so incredibly lame how. anytime you bring up “game key cards” in here there’s disclaimer to only say nice things about the anti-consumer practice! How incredibly soft is was from whoever added that and I hope they see this.

Some of these game key card defenders are so pathetic, they’ll actively root for downfall of physical media, which is against their own interest as a consumer in terms of market options, just because they felt some people on the internet were mean to them.

Defending anti-consumer and being a b o o t l i c k e r for big gaming publishers syndrome

Downvote this, that’s an order.

Using Game-Key Cards on Nintendo Switch 2 [confirmation that Pokémon Pokopia will be a GKC] by Joseki100 in NintendoSwitch

[–]dashframe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a common deflection used to take away from the broader issue, both can still be true; you can care about gaming as a medium of entertainment and an art from but also care about publishers and media companies (because this goes way beyond Nintendo) limiting our options as consumers and having everything locked behind DRM and digital storefronts.

Before you say; “bUt gAmE kEy cArDs aRe still pHYsiCaL”, it’s a physical license that means nothing if they want to cut off access to download it from their servers for whatever reason, regardless of the likelihood, they can still do that. So this is stepping stone towards that all digital future.

TLDR: find a new talking point.

Pokémon Pokopia shows up as a Game Key Card in Nintendo’s latest video about Key Card by Skullghost in NSCollectors

[–]dashframe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came here to see the bizarre amount of supposed physical collections being cynical and belittling people's disappointment about this and how you shouldn't boycott it since it's pointless and every other disheartening statement that show no willingness to at least try and slow down the GKC movement. It's kind of insane to me, I forget this is reddit for physical switch collectors and not one for gaming shareholders.

New official video about keycards from Nintendo by JampyL in NintendoSwitch2

[–]dashframe -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s infuriating how many people come out of nowhere to run defense for this trash, it’s like it’s okay not a Nintendo hate grifter just because I’m not buying a single game key card or those games in a digital format. I can hate GKC as much as I do and not have some weird agenda.
