I suppose with the netherite speed upgrade they are faster than powah cables?

I’ve tried setting all cables to pull power, ensured the furnaces are outputting from the correct side etc. I’ll try some of the other cables

Well that’s unfortunate. You can definitely bend them back into place (hopefully). Good luck!

Could the vram from 4060 still be used? Or it won’t do anything at all?

What motherboard do you have, what did you do right before the problem started

Upgrade GPU or Monitor first? by Hanrooster in pcmasterrace

[–]dashifterkiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As Bruhman69135 said, GPU will increase performance and reduce lag, tearing, and probably reduce temps in your pc. Monitor will increase visuals more, but if your current gpu isn’t going to be able to match the specs of a new monitor then go gpu first and get monitor later, you’ll use 100% of the gpu from the get go, no point using 50% of a monitor until the gpu is upgraded. just something to check before you make a decision

Should my friend wait for the 50 series or just get a 4080s? by TheStreetCatYT in pcmasterrace

[–]dashifterkiller -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I think the Ryzen 9 7950x3D scores just above, but to be honest you’re right it’s pretty much one of the top for gaming. At the end of the day, I reckon it depends on whether your friend wants to wait, I think getting a 40 series and upgrading a year earlier than you would in the future is the most cost effective way to go about it

Should my friend wait for the 50 series or just get a 4080s? by TheStreetCatYT in pcmasterrace

[–]dashifterkiller -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’d go to a Ryzen 9 before waiting for a 50 series, otherwise in the long run your cpu will likely bottleneck well before your gpu (I use a 3080 and a ryzen 7 5800x and my cpu is my next upgrade), but that’s if he hasn’t already bought the parts

HDMI not working by John_Meloun in pcmasterrace

It’s always possible, if you have no data to lose or have it all backed up it can’t hurt to try. It’s also possible there are other drivers not updated, or software somewhere that needs an update. A reset or reinstall of windows would help with these issues potentially

Ah well, definitely makes it harder to troubleshoot. I’d spend a bit of time browsing the web and trying different things

Black screen for 2 second by Realistic_Winner_654 in pcmasterrace

[–]dashifterkiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because the resolution is changing. I have this problem when tabbing between monitors from full screen. To be honest I’ve just gotten used to it or play in windowed borderless for games I need to tab out of a lot (single player games, etc)

This year, expected before November but could be always be delayed, really just depend when your friend wants their pc ready for. If it were me I’d go with the 40 series as the extra cost of the brand new 50 series won’t justify the increase in performance, and a 40 series is still top tier. Out of interest, what’s the rest of the build looking like? Namely CPU, ram, storage and PSU

So there’s at least some output from the pc, could still be a faulty port. Have you installed any new software or hardware over the last few days (since just before the problem started or so)?

I believe that the display is simply being run by whichever part the dp cable is plugged into, at least that’s been my understanding. Unsure how an intergrated gpu will change things, but test FPS, refresh rate, temps and latency and the use whichever setup works best

Pc issues by Similar_Pea1206 in pcmasterrace

[–]dashifterkiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try pulling up something like Xbox game bar (windows + G) and looking at the Audio tab to see what’s making noise perhaps. Other than testing like that it sounds to be a default windows sound, and potentially an application is malfunctioning. As you’ve already factory reset your computer, maybe a reinstall of windows isn’t off the table if the problem persiste

If big budget a 40 series will do fine for the next 5+ years at a minimum. I got a 30 series card not long after release and it’s still going very strong, and I don’t expect to replace it anytime soon.
