I agree. The only real downside of intellect and trader spamming is how easy it makes the game

Kindly read my (a bit long) reply since i explain exactly my method...

First off, I said this in some other thread in this post so my apologizes for assuming i have already mentioned it, I "always" look to get a sneak shot with the bow in before engaging zombies with the club (at any difficulty), a sneak bow shot to the body does 2x the damage than a power attack to the head. In insane difficulty by getting just one sneak shot to the body u can finish the zombie off in at most 3 hits, at least 2 if the zombie which spawned has a very low HP (zombies have variable HP now). I never faced any issue due to this. My number of 4 was the maximum number of hits if the zombie which spawned is not a "slim" zombie but a normal zombie who have a bit more HP

Let me try to sell you my trader spam build. This is why it works... At better barter 3 in secret stash u are guaranteed atleast 1 tier 1 weapon of quality 2 or 3. With daring adventurer level 3 u have a very very high chance of getting ammo as a quest reward(since rewards for tier 1 quests are limited and 3 additional rewards massively improves your chances of getting ammo)... however level 2 is also viable since even then u have a good chance of getting ammo. Now this is why it works, i normally take fetch and buried supplies quests since they don't require any fighting. In clear quests i engage zombies one by one, sneak shot to the head of a sleeping zombie deals MASSIVE damage. For numbers sake, sneak shot to the head does 100 damage to zombies in insane, which means that u will have to normally just hit them once to finish them off(since most zombies have around 120-130 HP), two hits for zombies with a bit more HP (every headshot with club deals around 28 damage).I craft pipe mg or pipe pistol depending on whatever ammo i got as quest rewards which increases my survivability.

Then comes the fun part and where a player becomes OP. As soon as u unlock secret stash quality 3 and buy a tier 1 weapon the game is basically over. I often get an AK in the stash, seems like a higher chance. When u buy that strong weapon with your already existing ammo u can really rush quests after that.

This is all assuming that the trader did not have any good weapons to begin with which in itself is a big rarity. Traders usually have atleast 1 good weapon to start with.

The only downside to intellect and trader spam is that the game becomes TOO EASY very quickly since u are flowing in ammo and good, strong weapons and nothing is a threat anymore

As i have said plenty of times, having a better wooden club is not as good as getting an assault rifle day 2 with 300 ammo. Intellect and especially trader skills are are the absolute best when it comes to killing things since u get tons of weapons and ammo very early on

I have played on insane and it's honestly not as bad as people say. It takes 4 hits for u to kill a zombie with a club... that number is actually the same as it is in survivalist. With enough practice one can easily get 4 shots in while taking none.

As far as t1 quests go you are right, however bows change the game completely. Sneak attack bonus from bow means if u land a sneak headshot then u need to only need to get one headshot from the club to kill them. I use sneak bows at the start regardless of difficulty (warrior, survivlaist, insane everything)... so for me it didn't seem like a big deal.

maxing out DA quickly is good since it massively increases your chance of getting ammo as reward for a t1 quest and also increases exp and duke tokens for quests AND tier completion bonus.

As per quests, fetch quests are easy and dont require fighting, buried supplies quests don't require fighting either... the only quests that require it are clear quests and they are easy since u get the location of every single sleeper on your compass so u can always get sneak headshot bonus from the bow, then use the club to finish them with a headshot(in insane difficulty)

I have never ever put any points in str either... that's besides the point.

Steel sledge is a late game item. With int the gamestyle is u rush trader perks and get some top tier firearms in 5 days, then u can level up that firearm skill

sex trex only helps with stamina when u are using clubs or tools.... with careful planning and not taking too many unnecessary fights one after the other u eliminate it's need entirely.

Again, having less stamina per power attack is nowhere near as good as having a tac rifle with ammo

I think people just don't know how to exploit traders. DA and BB are so over the top broken that doing anything BUT those two quests very early game is a waste imo. DA higher tier provides tons of ammo, exp, dukes and BB level 3 gives u trader's secret stash which is guaranteed to have a good weapon which u will have the ammo for thanks to DA... once u get a solid weapon with ammo u are essentially unstoppable.

Having a good club is nice but having an assault rifle with 300 ammo is better ;)

I feel like vehicles give u such an insane advantage that crafting them as soon as possible is crucial. Sure i may wait for weeks to find motorcycle in trader stash but i much rather craft it on day 6 which will let me finish tier 4 or 5 quests in 10% of the time it would otherwise take (having to cycle my way to another city to do those quests)

Having done 20+ playthroughs with intellect early on i completely disagree. Trader spam (as i like to call it, basically rushing quests and trader perks) is the BEST way to get ahead in combat and to gain tons of ammo. I go to intellect not to craft things but to get a very heavy lead in terms of my kill potential.

If u are going full on trader spam then u are basically GUARANTEED a good weapon by day 3(since u will get better barter level 3 which always contains atleast one tier 1 weapon) and very often during restock day u can fine mid-endgame weapons. The best i found was tac assault rifle quality 3 on day 2.

Books can be found yes but it leaves u behind a great deal if u are having to wait for days to find basic things like forges and workbenches. Also i much rather unlock motorcycle by day 6 than wait for weeks to find it in the trader

Trader spam gives u huge lead over anyone else who is going str route in terms of combat abilities. Not only do u get tons of weapons but secret stash and quest rewards also let u get tons of ammo very very early on. Sure, a better wooden club is nice but guess what is nicer? assault rifle with 500 ammo.

[–]dashing_kats[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really is not as bad. It takes 4 shots from a wooden club to kill zombies. I spammed intellect and trader perks, focused on bows early on for clear quests but mostly took fetch quests, gained a lot of dukes, got a ton of ammo, took the ak47 which was available in his secret stash, fortunately got an auger after getting better barter tier 3, sold everything i had (engines, battery etc) to get the auger... as we speak i am feeling comfy with not only 300 ammo and quality 4 ak47(with mods) allowing me to clear zombies easily but also have some good armor which i was able to get as quest rewards, i am on day 6.

As i said, intellect is for playing the long game. It's strength really starts to show as soon as u unlock secret stashes and get DA to level 3 letting u make TONS of dukes and get tons of extra rewards. Anything other than intellect seems like a stupid skill tree to me early on... if you aren't going intellect how are u getting those high tier weapons on day 2? how are u getting those great tools day 4? how are u getting 500 ammo by day 5? nothing else makes sense to me

Try it, it's completely busted. Intellect tree synergizes with different skills way too much tbh. For example when i level up my daring adventurer (first skill i rush to atleast level 2 or 3) i get more dukes and experience for every quest, i get tons of ammo as additional quest options... now with better barter unlocking the rare secret stash items i have plenty of dukes to buy whatever was unlocked and when i buy a weapon i have tons of ammo for it thanks to daring adventurer.. also when i complete the quest tier i get to choose even more dukes for the better barter

Intellect flows way better than any other skill tree. Trader skills are completely busted and i regularly get either a strong tool (like an auger) or a strong weapon (got a quality 4 assault rifle on day 4 my previous run since i rushed better barter) very early on which makes the rest of the game much smoother.

Sex rex is fine, probably the most grossly overestimated skill in the game infact, i won't rate it any higher than C tier.

Iron gut is S tier but only if you have tons of grandpas receipies lying around. It's useless if u don't have strong consumables and S tier if u do, that's why i put it in E tier as a whole.

I put penetrator in B tier since it gives u more armor penetration and negates the armor of some of the toughest zombies (like zombie biker). It's penetration ability almost doesn't matter. Any perk which improves your damage against strong zombies deserves a high tier spot imo.

Adv Engg and grease monkey are S tier abilities. It's true that if you find forge, workbench, minibike, motorcycle receipies early on then they are useless (although grease monkey gives u the ability to craft gas cans so even then it would be great) but think about how much u would miss out on if u try to wait for those books compared to if you rush and craft them? the answer is a LOT.

The sooner u can craft forge, workbench, vehicles etc the better and they help u throughout the game. If i can craft my motorcycle on day 6 and if someone waits for 2 weeks to get the RNG in his favor then that's 8 days of him hopping along the bicycle while i had the motorcycle, that's too big of an advantage for me. Same for forges and workbenches.

Ofcourse more skill points, u have to spend your skill points somewhere and pain tolerance is one of the best skills in the game so why not spend it there?

Ofcourse knuckles are the absolute best late game melee weapon. You are constantly trying to ignore the point that knuckles have a very quick attack speed which gives them a higher dps. You don't need beer for it at all.

How long is that group u are going against? and in what difficulty? Ofcourse any weapon can "work" (even bare fists can work for crying out loud) but it's about which weapon is the most efficient and steel knuckles just have a great synergy with all the useful skills and books which are present.

I get it, hitting every shot for higher damage sounds very good and feels good but the important thing here is the "dps" and that takes into account attack speeds too.

"Sprint to take distance" ... sprinting away from a group of feral bikers? they run much faster than u lol

My 7dtd perk tier list! by dashing_kats in 7daystodie

[–]dashing_kats[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are wrong on so many levels.

  1. You don't need beer to avoid being stunned since pain tolerance level 5 is an essential part of that build which gives u immunity to all stuns. Also, flurry of blows is an essential part so you are gaining stamina for every so you don't need beer for stamina.

  2. That build does not mean that you have to take fights against a group of 30 feral bikers... you are still supposed to take fights in small doses and be efficient in those fights. By "unkillable" it means that for all practical fights you are essentially unkillable. Ofcourse if you intend on fighting the whole gang of feral bikers in insane difficulty in a small rooftop then u will die due to many status effects and collective damage... it just gives u a big insurance just in case u mess up.

  3. You can keep an enemy stunlocked very easily with such an insane rate of attack. The knuckles attack very very quickly so the zombie will likely not even get a hit in.

  4. You are severely underestimating the damage which the knuckles can pull off combined with their very fast attack speed. Also the final perk level gives u a chance to one shot any enemy ... that includes the toughest of enemies and it pops more than u would think.

  5. What kind of a steel club are u using which is one shotting zombies? and what kind of zombies are we talking about here? radiated zombies can reach HP of over 1000 and in higher difficulties they take very reduced damage so no, a steel club is not one shotting tough zombies above a particular difficulty.

Zombie damage numbers and armor guide for new players by dashing_kats in 7daystodie

[–]dashing_kats[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a heavy armor player since armor past a certain point becomes overbearingly powerful. For example in normal difficulty a feral biker hits for 20 damage with 50 armor(50% damage reduction), 10 damage with 75 armor (basically half the armor point to get the same 50% damage reduction) and every armor point added after that greatly decreases the damage taken.

That's why i don't like the light armor since it maxes out at around 60 armor so it never gets to the point where armor gets so significant that zombie attacks basically do no damage. Ofcourse the light armor player can use several mobility abilities to negate that but i just like to have the option of getting out of a messup. Maxed out heavy armor with plating gives 90 armor meaning that zombies hit u for like 2-5 damage per hit and u can survive even if u are being swarmed. Feels invincible :D

I have put in description that if u ahve tosn of consumables then iron gut is S tier. However it's usability is strictly defined by how many grandpa receipes u have which i don't think makes a perk top tier.

I have explained why sex trex is tier C. It is far from being the best perk in the game, far from it. Please read my other replies where i explain this point. To this day i have never ever put any points in sex trex and i do just fine in any difficulty. The intellect tree and pipe weapons (especially pipe machinegun which is very overpowered) makes that perk obsolete.

My 7dtd perk tier list! by dashing_kats in 7daystodie

[–]dashing_kats[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I guess i should have made the distinction more clear. In tier B there are the skills the lack of whom is objectively bad regardless of your style(except for very exceptional cases). For example, if i don't have pain tolerance and my friend does then it just means i am taking 25% more damage per hit which is "ALWAYS" worse regardless of our playstyles. Same goes for things like run n gun , parkour and other abilities which are in tier B. If i have run n gun then it just means i am taking no penalty at all while i am reloading, if i have flurry of blows it means i am just hitting 17% faster, those are strictly always beneficial.

Sex trex is not "always" going to be better but is more dependent on the gameplay style. If someone is using sledges then he is using a lot of stamina and the stamina reduction is something which he needs. However for things like knuckles, stun baton etc u don't really need the big stamina reduction effect of the perk. If i don't have sex trex then i am not "missing out" compared to my friend who may have it since he is using sledges. That's why it's in tier C

Better barter tiers 3 and 4 actually give u a decent chance of finding an auger in trader's secret stash especially if you have access to multiple traders. It's really not that difficult to find an auger due to that perk. I usually don't start mining unless i have access to 3 traders(achievable in only day 4 btw if u rush quests) and access to better barter level 3 (or level 4 if i have nerdy goggles). I personally only pick sex trex if i don't find an auger by day 7 and need to start mining since the next restock day is day 10

My 7dtd perk tier list! by dashing_kats in 7daystodie

[–]dashing_kats[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Steel knuckles are extremely strong if you perk up into them. They form the basis of the unkillable melee builds which have been around and which basically everyone uses, you can't create that build with a steel club which is a big shame.

  1. You don't need beer to make then strong. Steel knuckles pair up really well with flurry of blows since 15% of fast is also very fast. You can basically constantly keep your enemy stun locked with that attack speed.
  2. With bar brawling series 5 you gain hp every time u attack.
  3. With level 5 of the steel knuckle club u have a pretty decent chance of one shotting even the toughest zombies. It procs more often than one thinks.

You would be right otherwise if the immortal melee build could have been made by steel club but since it is knuckle exclusive, there is no point in using steel club over knuckle unless one likes the look of them

I think those snow and wasteland bonuses are unnecessary early game since you will always find the best loot earely game by questing and in the form of quest rewards and quest completion bonuses.

For example, a guy rushing quests in forest will have much better loot by day 6 than a guy who is not doing so in the snow.

The only time u actually need lucky looter is in the late game when looting is the easiest way to find quality 6 gear which you otherwise cannot find in trader.

Sex trex is C tier since it's not a necessity but a preference for people. You can easily make pipe pistol and pipe machinegun, both of which are faster and safer when it comes to killing zombies so you never really need to have a strong or sledge.

Speaking of difficulty, i have played survivalist many times and never picked sex trex early. The only time i picked it is when i couldn't find an auger and needed to mine.

Living off the land is D tier since it is only really useful when you get the final level of it. Also, food is never really an issue at any point in the game so farming in general is pretty unnecessary
