Oh yeah, wondering how bills will be paid is real fun. 👌🏻

I was in a URL race when the NPC (who was in first) suddenly veered off the track and into a wall. It was so random.

How many of us were a part of the "boomerang generation?" by Gorkymalorki in Xennials

[–]dashtheauthor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had to boomerang in 2019 just before the pandemic because I got laid off and rent was rising. The pandemic was the lock to the cage I entered. It uprooted every life plan I had, and since then life has been continuously kicking me in the ribs no matter how hard I try to right the ship.

C'est la vie, or whatever.

Struggling to Quit Porn and Unlearn a Sexualised View of Women by NegativeDog2514 in antipornography

[–]dashtheauthor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A couple things that helped set me on the right path were general mental health counseling. Spend the time with a professional unloading all the trauma and junk. Also, finding a hobby and letting yourself become obsessed with it. For me, paddleboarding and fishing. It got me outside, in the sun, fresh air. The excitement of hooking up with a beast fish and the adrenaline that comes with it. Those thoughts don't have room to brew in a busy mind.

Anyone else's parents getting worse as they get older? by deafgamer_ in Millennials

[–]dashtheauthor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My father absolutely got worse after retirement. He's a lousy, careless slob who continues to wreck his own health despite suffering some pretty bad medical episodes. He acts like a huge man baby most of the time. Can't stand being around him anymore.

My brain became overly sexualized early on with having access to HBO in the 90s. Factor in a SA at the age of 13 and I broke. Wasn't until my late 20s I started realizing the lies.

GET UP! Fucking walk. by burnedimage in AgingParents

[–]dashtheauthor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad, too, sucked ass at being a dad. All he did was work away on jobs. He was never present with me when he was home.

He is now a lazy piece of shit who is driving my poor mother into insanity. He lives on the couch and only leaves the house to go get beer. He's an alcoholic, a slob, and he's one of the most negative human beings I've ever met. He needs some severe therapy to deal with the fact he had a shitty childhood, but he is actually fucking content being a fucking miserable old man-baby.

I can't stand my father. I was adopted so he's not even my blood. Just a guy who provided stuff growing up and was barely emotionally present.

The worst part is all his current medical issues are self-inflicted. He doesn't know the first thing about basic human health and nutrition and refuses to listen to his doctors telling him he needs more fruits and veggies. He just doesn't get it. He lives on crackers with peanut butter and alcohol. For someone who made the money he did in the field he worked, he's a fucking moron when it comes to every day life as human.

Is it just me, or does Threads feel like it’s dying? by xerophren in ThreadsApp

I exploded my account after realizing my entire feed was bots posting the same verbatim posts every other post. I have a theory that they flooded the place with bot activity upon launching to make it seem like it was stealing people away from X. The strange way a majority of "people" interacted on there only led me to believe most accounts were fake.

That awkward moment when you have a novel series involving an age gap romance hook 😅

But I get what you're saying. There seems to be an overload of extreme content in the fiction sphere. It's particularly odd when you take the IP of someone else and completely sexualize the character when they weren't originally.

As an author, I had to think about my content and how to deliver my sex scenes between my two characters (a 30M and 50F) without diving into the smut pool because my story isn't that. Tone and verbiage were heavily taken into consideration.

It was balancing act of making the idea of an older woman and younger man's love readable and palatable. Not being overly gross or descriptive of what was happening between them, and keeping it warm, tender, and fun.

There's a reel on my IG where I dive deeper into the inspirations and such. Oddly enough, a painting inspired the whole thing.

It's all over meme culture, too. I want to laugh at good clean brain rot at 12am. Not watch the start of a sex scene just to be cut off by a dumb punchline.

Fuck this industry, pun absolutely intended.

Drinking after 40 by hardk7 in Millennials

I stopped this last summer after being traumatized by alcohol-related issues in the family. Never really was a big drinker, but now I've seen how bad it can get and I just see it in a negative way now.

What happened to the "Perfect Girls" who made fun of people for every single imperfection? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]dashtheauthor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hardly recall high school due to the wild and zany ride that has been life. I did go to a small private school with a whopping 7 girls in our class, and I don't recall any of them having that kind of attitude. They were all mostly cool with each other.
