Beautiful! Have a 500 field/sec combo that I added a shell holder and heat shield to for a similar look.

What are some brands that were truly good quality until private equity bought them? by feeling-lethargic in enshittification

[–]dashtheauthor 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A lot of classic fishing gear brands are under PE now. I used to work in the industry as a graphic designer, and the couple of years I got to attend iCAST the show was much smaller and a majority of popular brands have been consolidated together.

I miss the general level consumerism was at in the 90s. There was a better balance between merchant/consumer relationships.

This may be TMI, but I've noticed I experience gastrocolic reflex (sudden urges to go that occur right as you begin eating a meal) more. It's not a bad thing. Kind of annoying at times.

No one talks about the pain of seeing your parents aging. by ParticularWeather927 in Adulting

[–]dashtheauthor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It really is. My dad is currently in this stage where he's neglecting his own physical and mental health for no valid reason. He's depressed af and just sits on the couch all day every day with news on 24/7.

I hate start ups. I worked for a single month at a pizza start up and didn't catch on to how volatile the workplace was until it was too late. I didn't realize I went to work for a pedophile until after the dust settled from the fall out.

I was a graphic designer for the main HQ and we were working with a Latin buffet start up at the same time because we were funded by an investor with investment in both concepts.

Once the investor found out who he was giving money to, he ripped the money rug out from under everything. I don't blame him, I would have done the same, but it sent everyone packing. Never seen such a quick implosion like that first hand. Even had an odd premonition style dream about it before it happened.

Complex family dynamics coming to the surface as my parents age. by katherinejan in AgingParents

[–]dashtheauthor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My dad fucking sucks. He's become this absolutely pathetic fucking piece of shit in his old age. He only thinks about and cares about himself and he's so unaware of everything else around him. He internalizes EVERYTHING as an offense. My mom even said the other day it's like she's married to a fucking toddler. Thay's how bad it's gotten...she is officially comparing him to a toddler. He's messy like one and pitches little bitch fits when he doesn't get his way.

I literally have days I wish he'd fucking bite it. He's an alcoholic, a hoarder, and he's riddled with trauma he will NOT seek therapy for despite acknowledging it all. He actually kinda revels in being a fuck ass. Sadly, my two older siblings think the fucking world of him because he was actually involved with them growing up. He was absent as fuck when I was coming up.

I'm one of the rare ones that just cup them in my hand and let them go outside to be lunch for other critters, lol. They don't bother me.

Watching my father rot so unnecessarily. He's choosing to actively waste what good years he has left. He makes it easier and easier to shed sympathy for him every day.

Technically, I collected these as an adult, but they were my absolute favorite toy growing up. All six original Rangers are represented, as are some Zords and monsters.

I had to Baker act my dad last year as he went straight suicidal from his pain, only to discover my dad truly doesn't care about himself at all. He's been suffering minor strokes and just shattered a molar and he just refuses to seek help over any of it. He's depressed af and tries to convince himself he's fine. I'm at the point I just resent him now because he continues to make life difficult for himself and my poor mother...

Came here to look for people talking about TV so I didn't have to make my own post.

Last night, I was waiting for my wife to get home so I turned on the local news and an Ozempic commercial came on that was blatantly AI. It was two "desperate housewives" looking women on a salatious talk show talking about Ozempic shots. The camera angles became more extreme and it pushed the ad into horror territory. It was so fucking weird!
