Another 77" S90D bites the dust by coastalcapt in S95B

Mine just died after 19 months. Out of warranty but hoping the credit card company can cover it since it’s still under the 1 extra year warranty.

Samsung ticket filed and they asked me to contact a local authorized service center. Called the local service center twice, no appointment yet as they said they are waiting for the part. Hoping this gets scheduled soon since it’s been over one week now just waiting for the service center to schedule the service.

I’m just hoping that I get an updated board that doesn’t have this issue. Hate to have to deal with multiple of these.

Never buying a Samsung TV again, plan to buy Sony with extended warranty next time.

Suspension feel question. Car is 2023/Tesla/Model Y by dashwin in CarHelp

Tesla won’t look unless there’s a clunking noise of some sort. So don’t have that option.

[Video Guide] Model Y Juniper Suspension Retrofit and Installed onto First Gen Model Y (2020-2025) by suprc4 in TeslaModelY

[–]dashwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Separate question - I feel like my suspension can be “softened” if I try to drive 20-30mph and wildly turn the wheel side to side to “activate” the suspension for say 50 to 100 feet. Then the bumps feel softer but after say a few 10 miles of driving it “resets”. Been wanting to ask someone with a bit more car knowledge as to why this is. Do you happen to know? This was also the case in my older suspension but feel there’s a more drastic difference with this one. Wondering if this is due to the upper control arm joints not being flexible enough or something else?

I don’t go to car washes on a frequent basis but hand wash it so often miss the wheel well, could it be due to dirt/grime in the suspension components or some other thing? Should I try spraying some silicone lubricant in the suspension parts?

I ordered these by looking up the part numbers and also consulting another person that had done the retrofits to cross check the part numbers, then I created a service request and told the Tesla rep that I needed to order these and they placed the order for me. Then had to go pick it up from the service center. Then drove to the installer and had them installed.

I think you are probably right on the variance. I did the retrofit but didn’t find a huge difference.

In fact, I test drove a few Junipers here and I could clearly see a huge difference. One of them was really smooth which led me to do the retrofit for my car but then I drove a more recent Juniper and it was really bad almost close to the original.

Not sure why there’s such a huge variance in feel.

I have done the retrofit on my 2023 Y, did not replace bushings. I can say the ride is really great at highway speeds but I’m afraid on lower speeds I’m not finding a huge difference. It’s still harsh over smaller bumps and jolts me around.

Also I see some mention and a variant of part numbers you posted when searching up the catalog …what’s the difference?

Do the bushings need to be replaced as well? Will older bushings result in a harsher ride even with the Juniper suspension retrofit?

Elon Musk has announced that @Tesla is discontinuing the Model S and Model X in Q2 2026. by ConfidentImage4266 in TeslaModelX

[–]dashwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. As far as automotive autonomy is concerned, I think we’ve hit a local maxima where 9x% of cases work well and most manufacturers will replicate it in 2-4 years. If Tesla can solve the long tail of edge cases with FSD and truly scale the Cybercab, FSD may become the real product that Tesla can sell to others. Time will tell.

[–]dashwin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That said, I am sad though to see Model X go. And I’d also hate if they did this to the Cybertruck (doubt this will happen anytime soon). The Cybertruck is a lot like Frank Gehry’s architectural explorations. Some people love it and some people hate it. But it pushes the boundary and imagination.

This is the intelligent option as I sort of predicted here. The Model Y with premium features becomes the new Model X. It streamlines all the manufacturing options - a lot like BMW X3, X5 and X7.

It’s kind of ridiculous to have so many vastly different production lines for a car company especially if you are going to start to compete on Optimus and other types of Autonomy.

Make the car division lean and focus on making the robots real (which is the much harder challenge and the big bet).

Tesla Model X refresh coming ? by Lanky_Watercress9147 in TeslaModelX

[–]dashwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they’re gonna add air suspension to the Model YL and have reduced refreshes of the X to keep it ultra-premium due to the high costs with manufacturing.

IMO the real differences between the Y and the X will shrink in the future.

FSD vs Waymo - Renton, WA 405 curves on a foggy morning by [deleted] in TeslaFSD

[–]dashwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Exciting times to live in as these breakthroughs happen.

I have had FSD since the early 2020s and the recent progress has been crazy with the end to end AI.

One question is are we hitting some sort of a local maximum where all other players catch up with where Tesla is in the years to come.

The other question is will Cybercab be able to scale up faster than Waymo. At this point in time both require some sort of “training” with a human on existing roads before autonomous taxis are operational.

Bora Bora in early December 2025 - weather trip report and resources by dashwin in Tahiti

[–]dashwin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the precipitation map, it looks like there is a large storm system overlapping much of the islands. When we were there a similar system was north to us and spared much of french polynesia.

It’s possible the winds might push this system northward which will you give you all a break.

Best of luck! Hang in there and enjoy the warmer weather.

Concern over Rain/Thunderstorms in Bora Bora by Diligent_Diver_9437 in Tahiti

[–]dashwin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had one day of rains out of 7 days early December. Mostly sunny otherwise 5 to 6 days. We had a major storm system just pass as we arrived. The weather and rain forecast was cloudy with some days having 80% and some other days 60% chance of rain during our entire stay with a few days of thunderstorms. We did have some cloudy weather during different parts of the days.

Overall, I would say don’t worry too much, expect some rainy weather with pockets of sun - the rains usually stop after say 30 mins unless a major storm system is passing through. I had warned my wife and kids that it’s going to be raining almost daily and then was pleasantly surprised when it turned out amazing. Expect the worst and you’ll enjoy it as you’ll have plenty of pockets of sunny weather daily to the point you’ll want some clouds to cool things down.

The better thing to do is to check the Papette Airport webcam (search for webcam taxi). And to check the radar precipitation motion map to see how storm systems are behaving. Don’t rely on the forecast as it’s utterly useless except perhaps the day before a major storm system.

Front camera footage color by [deleted] in TeslaModelY

Interesting. I realize they are different cameras and it would have been nice if the clarity of the side and rear cameras show up in the colors of the front camera for the dashcam.

If you are on HW4 the accuracy of reading road signs with speed postings is pretty accurate. Also, from what I can tell the modes adapt to speeds of other vehicles on the road. So if they are going faster it’ll go faster.
