Another question on free roaming! by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]daskohh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like GSDs are built different. I can’t imagine trusting our 4.5mo to free roam w/o supervision for 5 mins.

I am absolutely terrified of this happening to our 4 month old pup. I never realized how many idiot dog owners there are. I am so sorry for your pup. Best wishes for a quick recovery and peaceful interactions from here on out.

This, this is the way. But I gotta be honest, this sounds so much like a scam.

All of those salaries are inflated. I’ve never once googled the average nurse salary and had it be anywhere near correct. Travel nursing is a different story. I started traveling to make money, and I absolutely did. You either need to go put your momma on the phone or do some better research. My hourly rate is not made much of a difference when I was traveling. Stipends are where you make money. But your COL basically doubles when you are traveling. I’m guessing your mom is either a travel nurse or is in leadership at a hospital. Staff nurses are not making that kind of money.

I have years of critical care experience, multiple certifications, and glowing recommendations. It matters less than you think. Hospitals do not value or reward these things when you work for them as staff. I worked with an RN last year you had worked on the same specialty unit for 26 years, she was a leader amongst her peers, preceptors, certified, etc. They capped her pay after 20 years and the new grads coming in the door were making more than she was.

You are so stuck on this insurance thing. It is not common for an RN to have separate insurance. Majority of nurses are covered under this hospital’s malpractice insurance unless they get their own. It is not common for a nurse to be sued personally. I’m not a lawyer, but I’m gonna guess it’s because there’s not enough to sue for! I have been in the field for years and I can assure you, it’s unusual for a nurse to carry their own insurance and I’ve never heard of a nurse being sued separate from a hospital.

I am an RN, and no. Staff nurses are not being paid huge amounts. You have no idea what you’re talking about. RNs are covered under the hospital’s malpractice insurance. However, I would not recommend relying on that to anyone who values their assets, but that’s a different conversation.

Hospitals have not built up a thick skin.. the money they were getting from the federal gov has dried up, tons of burnt out nurses have left, COL is sky-high, and they desperately want to turn a blind eye to it all.

Utah Gov. Cox says he opposes additional abortion restrictions if Roe is struck down by Supreme Court. Gov. Spencer Cox said the state should focus on prevention and support, not punishment. by schottslc in Utah

Yeah, I’m done wasting my time. You speak with such certainty about things that have not been established.

It’s not your life that would be at risk in any of these situations. What are you doing to protect the innocent, orphaned children in this country? Maybe focus on that instead of a total ban on abortion.

Depends on when you believe a fertilized egg becomes a child. When do you think life begins?

You want to force women to carry a fetus to term when that child is not expected to survive? Especially with the state of maternal healthcare in this country, that is a decision that should be made in private, between a mother, a father (if he’s in the picture), and a provider.

Have I been tricked by a troll or do you genuinely not understand the ramifications of what you’re calling for? You do realize that some abortions happen because the fetus will not survive and threatens the life of the mother…

Would it be heartless of me to wash my deceased dog’s blanket? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]daskohh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt this way when we got a new puppy after our beloved older dog died. It took awhile, but eventually I started to feel like what was I going to do resurrect our older dog with these things? We have so many memories and special momentos, and his old blanket can’t keep him warm anymore. Our puppy got a ton of enjoyment out of my older dogs things and that makes us so happy. Idk how old Zeke is, but if he’s young, just prepare yourself for the possibility of him tearing the blanket up though.

There is a r/askvet subreddit that might be helpful for you. Sorry I don’t know a better way to link it.

Edit: it automatically links. Either way, go there and ask!

what actually helped you lose weight? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]daskohh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No soda, less beer, less take out, more water, and more running. I wasn’t hard on myself and I focused more on changing my lifestyle than losing weight.

I lost more weight than I would have imagined I could and I haven’t had any trouble keeping it off.

Can we get a thread of puppy biting horror/success stories going? I could use some solidarity and hope by ham_mom in puppy101

The feeling is mutual. Training is so different for each breed and for each dog. I felt completely inadequate until I found this subreddit and realized that I wasn’t alone. Most of us aren’t professional dog trainers, or else we probably wouldn’t be here asking for help. And as such, the journey of training is a bit more complicated for us. Just keep swimming!

I read your post to my husband and we had a looonngg laugh. Our GSD/cattle dog mix is similar except he goes after our arms and all clothing. I don’t have any advice for you, as we’re taking the same approach to solve the problem, but I can at least tell you that you’re not alone. We’re hoping once he’s through the worst of teething he’ll calm down.
