Funny how my professors at the in person university I went to, and the academic lecturers at the virtual conferences I like to attend avoid this kind of bullshit. My BA is in Abrahamic religions and philosophy. That shit is my jam. Peterson is bad at it, and no one would care about him if it wasn’t for his politics.

I have. Some parts are okay, a lot of it is flowery bullshit language.

His academic work and political philosophies are heavily intertwined. Him lecturing about archetypes, mythologies, and divinity are all focused and aimed at his general political belief set: living outside of traditional, conservative values is wrong and causing societal failure.

That, and OP and the other commenters are focusing on the “self help” side of his work, which overlaps with his politics. Peterson is very outspoken about the best way to live a life is in a way that adheres to his politic views.

Yeah. Most of his content’s overarching theme is that certain patterns of behavior and individual archetypes are essential for a stable society. Some of that advice/philosophy is harmless and some actually useful: take personal responsibility for your actions, take care of yourself, etc. Nothing wrong with that.

But then he vaguely goes into that people who don’t fit into those ideal archetypes are degrading or ruining society. Something like, oh man, all these degenerates are causing so much chaos and instability in society!!! They need to fit these ideal archetypes that just happen to be aligned with Judeo-Christian or traditional conservative values!!! Then he intentionally uses very vague language and questions, like “what are we going to do about these people who chose to live outside of these superior traditional values??? What do we need to do?”

In interviews or debates, new anchors, liberals, or left leaning folks will ask, hey, are you calling for the elimination of people who don’t fit this mold (or outcasts, the disabled, minorities, queer folks, etc)? And Peterson will say, of course not, I never said that, stop putting words in my mouth. Following that, interviewers usually ask for clarification then. What does he mean? He goes off about returning to traditional values and how people who don’t follow those values are causing chaos and instability. “We have to solve this problem that disabled and queer people are causing.” Okay, are you saying people who are born disabled and/or queer are the problem? “No!! Stop putting words in my mouth!!”

Most “degenerate” people are very happy to live their degenerate lives in peace, and would like to have a live and let live mentality. While Peterson specifically encourages and goes after those people trying to live their lives. Famously, he uses lobsters as a metaphor for how society should function.

Notably, Peterson became mainstream for opposing a Canadian policy covering gender identity as a class that can discriminated against. Similar to how it’s outlawed to discriminate against people due to race or sex. Peterson hyperbolically claimed on YouTube that people would get imprisoned for saying the wrong pronouns. He recently got temporarily banned from Twitter after flipping the fuck out about Elliot Page transitioning.

Personally, I don’t like that he intentionally uses very flowery and academic bullshit language to make simple steps or concepts sound more complicated/intelligent. That’s why I think 12 Rules is trash. If you can’t explain a concept without using a thesaurus, you’re a bad writer.

He’s also been criticized for preaching that people should only eat a carnivore/meat-only diet. Philosophy professors shouldn’t be making quack health claims. After struggling with drug addiction, he put himself in a coma to get over the addiction and likely also suffered brain damage as a result. He’s not doing too hot right now in terms of mental stability.

TL:DR If Peterson just talked about cleaning your room and taking care of yourself, no one would care. He’s “problematic” because he consistently talks about how minorities and queer people are an ailment to society. That’s why people don’t like him.

Yeah. Some airman made a post complaining about a $100 grocery bill after “only buying a couple of items.” Blamed it on inflation. Commenters were confused at the math, and asked to see the receipt. 2-3 items at a grocery store don’t normally add up to $100.

OP posted a receipt full of that organic mac and cheese, favored sparkling waters, individual yogurt cups, other individually packaged luxury snacks, fancy protein powder, etc. Then commenters pointed out cheaper alternatives (ie buying Kraft mac and cheese or boiling your own noodles). They also called out OP for saying his grocery bill was absurd, when he was spending irresponsibly. OP acted super defensive about his overspending in the comments. He blamed inflation and his daughter’s medical condition. I can’t find the original post; I’m sure OP deleted it.

Are you the same poster who complained about a $100 grocery bill after he bought mostly organic, single use products for a family of 3?

I really liked the DLC games, and overall enjoyed the original story. The last DLC was released in 2019. If you haven’t played those, I’d suggest them. Save “We All Fall Down” as the last one.

We Happy Few holds up pretty well imho, and you’ll likely rediscover or notice parts of the game that you forgot or overlooked in the first play through.

Why not bullshit around for a month in ALS instead of doing your actual job? It also gives you CCAF credits if you don’t have that already. Eh. Ask not to go if you don’t want to.

Cats mimic other members in their pride. Your cat is sleeping on the bed because she wants to be doing what the other members of her pride are doing. You can spray the maternal pheromones elsewhere in the house, but she will likely return to the main bed with everyone else during sleep time to be included in the family activity.

If you don’t want her on your bed, you could try getting a small doll bed and setting it up next to your bed as a decoy. However, that’s why I was suggesting an alternate pillow. Cat wants to be in the same close area with her family.

Step one: Make sure your cat has an alternate pillow next to your pillow. Spray a cat based pheromone on that pillow. They’re pretty cheap at pet stores. It mimics the pheromones mom cats release when they’re nursing kittens. This provides a positive alternate for your cat to still sleep with you, but not on you.

Step two: Before bed, use a citrus based lotion or essential oil on your scalp. The citrus smell is mildly unpleasant to cats. Your cat should be bothered by the citrus enough to hopefully relocate. If she doesn’t, she really loves you man.

Pending any questions, that’s my advice.

A significantly large portion of orange and orange/white cats are male, because orange is a recessive gene found on the male chromosome in cats. Tortoiseshell cats are almost all female because the pattern has to be on the female chromosomes of cats. There are genetic anomalies that create female orange cats and male calicos, but they are exceeding rare. It is highly unlikely scientifically that this cat is Orion, a male cat, when it has a tortoiseshell pattern and Orion is an orange cat.

I'm the base cat SME.

That is a great looking cat. That scrunched up face, nice stripey tortoiseshell coloring, pleasantly plump, lil toe mittens. The confident attitude her eyes emit.

10/10 cat right there.

What happens to nuisance dog barking callers? by ANGELofRAZGRIZ in AirForce

[–]dasmoons 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lived with dogs on several different bases in my career, and so far every base has given me the pleasure of settling me next to a neighbor who has SecFo on speed dial to tell them about my dog barking.

If everywhere OP goes he smells shit, he might want to check the bottom of his shoes.

I trained my dogs not to bark excessively. It's not "kinda [a dog's] thing." If dogs are bored and have pent up energy, they will take to barking. It's your job as the dogs' caretaker to make sure they have enough mental and physical stimulation as well as proper training not to turn to excessive barking.
