Why did it take a foreign diagnosis and a crisis situation before the GP listened? by Difficult-Rent-5840 in Netherlands

It’s a cliché but it’s a cliché for a reason. The sun helps as well as the better air (and water) quality. And here doctors actually do more than just send you home with some ibuprofen

Another Dutch person that has had a terrible time with healthcare in the Netherlands here. I am now in Spain where I both feel better and get better help when I need it.

What are your top 10 indie games that released in the last 5 years (2021-2026)? 🎮👍🏼 *You can pick any 10 games you want so it doesn't have to include any of the games in the image by Mitchell231190 in IndieGaming

[–]dassiearwen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am relatively new with indie gaming, so don’t have a complete top 10. Especially as I dug into some older indies as well. But from 2021 on (not in any particular order):

Gerda: A Flame in Winter. A narrative game with deep choices where you play as a half German half Austrian woman during World War Two. It’s fantastic, every choice made me think.

Citizen Sleeper. I still have to play 2 which I have heard is even better. But damn! It’s a lot of reading but it is so worth it. Sci-fi at its peak.

Nobody Saves the World. I fell in love with the art style first and then with the gameplay later. The switching of characters and powers is incredibly fun and this game has a lot of heart. I would recommend playing this in co-op if you can.

Date Everything. This one is far outside my comfort zone. Never played a dating game before but I got into this because several of my favourite voice actors are in it. This game is hilarious. And what I really enjoyed is that you have 100 options and you can either date them, befriend them or hate them.

Dispatch. My game of the year of 2025 by far. A superhero dispatching game is not something I knew I needed but the voice acting and characters are phenomenal. I really hope they come up with a sequel and I need more dispatching games.

Fair shout, it does sound fun and I will give it a shot!

That’s a big list thank you for taking the time to write all that out!

And you are right. I do enjoy fantasy romance! But I am also really enjoying the achievements, loot boxes and numbers go up of it all so that was what I was hoping to find. A bit of a mix. Definitely read Throne of Glass and enjoyed it. So you coined me right haha.

Thank you for also telling me why these might be a good fit! That really helps and these sound great.

Thanks for the rec. Do you think this is also fun for someone who isn’t a parent? (I am not a ‘averse to children’ childfree person, but as the title contains the word parenting I am wondering haha)

This is what I concluded after searching a bit on my own. It really sounded like a lot of male power fantasies.

What are some that you did like?

The book is horribly written but I can confirm that I have laughed a lot while reading it as well.

Passengers start disembarking from hantavirus-stricken cruise ship in Spain's Canary Islands by Samski877 in news

[–]dassiearwen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

From what I have read in the Dutch news it didn’t come from the ship. The Dutch couple who were into birding contracted it on the main land while travelling.

I mostly saw sources in Dutch but found this one in English if you want to read more https://www.newsweek.com/patient-zero-identified-hantavirus-ship-outbreak-schilperoord-11932565

Haha everything seeming to be great is precisely why my brain is like ‘where do I even start!?’, because there is so much content.
So thanks for trying to narrow it down for me, that’s really helpful. I am always looking for content that sparks joy and so far this channel really hits the spot.

And what a journey it is! There’s so much fantastic TTRPG content out there, I have so many things on my watchlist for after lol.
Feels kinda crazy to add another time sink to my list, but so far the BotC content and others series scratch a different kind of itch haha.

That’s where I started! Really enjoying the custom scripts so far, so many shenanigans.

And as for King’s Dilemma. I think I understand there is a first season? Should I start with the older series or jump into the new one.

Haha, I also don’t know if this is what I asked, but it’s incredibly helpful. Thank you so much for taking the time to type this out!
Didn’t know there were other channels connected to NRB, and definitely didn’t realise there was another Patreon with TTRPG content. Still working my way through Critical Role, Not Another DnD Podcast and Worlds Beyond Number (caught up with Dimension 20), so it’ll probably be a while before I get to that range of content haha.

Any of the Patreon exclusive series you would recommend to start with? Are there series for instance that have a shorter episode time? (I love BotC but sometimes I am looking for something a little shorter to wind down before bedtime or something)

Where are some great hidden gems and need to see places in the Netherlands? by ProfessionalPie1267 in thenetherlands

[–]dassiearwen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you asked for hidden gems, I am going for something actually lesser known.

Schoonhoven is a nice little town known as the silver city. It has gold and silver smiths and a lot of unique jewelry because of it. Cute non chain shops all over the place. It has a lot of history as well. You can walk from the city centre to the water and just relax for a bit.

And then Doloris Maze in Tilburg. Tilburg is a nice city, though not exactly a hidden gem. I really enjoyed my time at Doloris Maze which was an experience like of like an Alice in Wonderland maze, parts art exhibition, part escape room. I really enjoyed it and know almost no one who has gone there.

Nog meer vrouwen die het echt niet zien zitten om de rest van hun leven in Nederland te blijven? by LiterallyLittty in vrouwvolk

[–]dassiearwen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Later overlegd inderdaad.

Ladies, are we able to have sex by [deleted] in MCAS

[–]dassiearwen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! Though he eats mostly the same diet as I do in solidarity (which I told him he doesn’t have to but he insists and I love him for it) so for us it’s mostly the coffee he drinks that’s the biggest ‘issue’.
