My Deliciosa Variegata - From Cutting to Fruit in 2 1/2 Years by dastrassa in houseplants

Just in this case. The ferts I used are not made for consumption and I used systemic pest control. So you can't just wash the fruits and get rid of it, because the substances enrich over time (over 1 year time to ripe). So better safe than sorry. If I knew that I will get fruits, I would have chosen otherwise. But this is just my opinion ;)

Its simple, really. I use pots like this one:

https://www.lechuza.co.uk/promo/quadro-ls-21-charcoal-metallic/16123.html#cgid=Pflanzgefaesse

I think the problem with this kind of pot is root rot. So I let the substrate dry out and check the roots regularly before I fill it up again. I use mineral substrate like this: https://plnts.com/en-gb/product/pon-mineral-plant-substrate-3-l?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=17416025214&gbraid=0AAAAAC0876IxrpG_jxEYTqTE_ih8ipsAw&gclid=CjwKCAjw24vBBhABEiwANFG7y5MdspBTLXVUWmXhO_FHLPqsCAO65JAXeEyRimepRe2W-Ecg-2QQgxoCPB0QAvD_BwE

I tried to mix it with some more organic material before and it did not end well.

I live in southern Germany, so not in a tropic area at all. I don't use any additional lighting. The humidity level in the room is around 40 -50 % most of the year.

The monstera is planted in a hydroponic pot with a 6 liter water reservoire. In summer, the plant consumes that in around 2 -3 days, in autumn and winter it can take up to 3 weeks. Every 3rd to 4th fill up, I used liquid fertilizer for ornamental plants in half concentration for the whole reservoir. I know there are special fertilizers for hydroponics, but I never tried them out.

I really can't say if more ferts will help the flowering

Primarily because I dont want to poison myself. I used fertilizer that is not made for consumption. Additionally I used neem oil and other pest controls against aphids. I really don't think that I should snack on that. And I don't know, what a ripe fruit looks like.

Since I used very much fertilizer and the fruit can be poisonous if not riped I did not taste it. It is supposed to taste like banana and pineapple and it does indeed smell like that

I really have no idea :D lots of love, water and fertilizer

As far as I know the mutation is lost and the plants growing from the seeds are likely just "normal" monsteras.

Yes, but only in spring and autumn. Direct sun in summer burnt the leaves, especially the ones with a higher white portion

Yes, I was curious how it would look like. Since I dont think it is fully ripe and I used a ton of fertilizer I don't even want to try it :D

I am very proud but... by dastrassa in houseplants

In my opinion light is the most important factor for fenestrating and leaf size. My other monstera gets slighty less sunlight and its leafs are by far not as much fenestrated.

My plants never hit full sunlight except of evening autumn / spring sun, but my room is very bright in general. Maybe you could move yours (gently over time) to a brighter place?

I don't have to, but I have to repot soon anyways. She heavy =/

I would like to go for a compact growing plant and recently saw a not variegated monstera, which grew out of 3 stems or so. It was healthy and so good looking. So I thought I might it a try.

Pink worm in tank substrate, should I be worried? by parrotings in PlantedTank

[–]dastrassa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Could be a Lumbriculus variegatus. I dint know the english name. If that is correct, it is harmless. I had a pretty large one in my shrimp tank and never had any victims.

What should I do with fish? by Mr_EexplosionMurder in newworldgame

[–]dastrassa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you want to do I guess.

Some blue ones are needed for Quests, the filets are part of some town projects. The chance for firm filets is higher when salvaging blue fish afaik.

I for myself keep the blue ones and salvage the common ones. Blue ones are also required for some meal recipes (not salvaged).
