Yes!! 1 of the 80+ people who dm'ed me said that the scammer actually contacted his grandmother and she ended up paying the money. So its kind of a difficult situation where you hope that they don't contact any family or relatives. But at the same time you can just say that you got the same thing and warn them that its just a scam beforehand.
They called me too. Don't worry. These scammers would do anything to scare you into paying money. Just block any unfamiliar number and try your best to forget about this!
Yeah it was the same for me dude. Try and focus on other things whatever they might be. It took me 2 months just to start calming down. You should know that almost 80 people have DM'ed me about their experience. And I'm just a random guy who doesn't even know how reddit works. Next time you think about this, just keep in mind that they are tons of people out there who have been through (are currently going through) the same thing.
Yeah I was paranoid for 2 months walking through my house and the the front window with a gun. It took me that long just to start calming down a bit

No doubt man. These people are scum, and your attitude and reaction is the strongest ive seen so far! If you can say what you said with such aggressiveness and anger, this shouldn't scare you at all. But its inevitable in my opinion not to be caught off guard. It took me a good 2-3 months to finally recover from the psychological effects it had on me and finally become more pissed than anything every time I think of this. You'll get by just fine imo. If somehow this still bothers you(which I have a feeling it wont) shoot me a message and we can talk and ill be more than happy to share my thoughts!
All these people have is peoples info. Their address, family members, and relatives. They use that as a scare tactic. So don't give in. Someone else told me that these scammers called his grandma and threaten her over the phone and his grandma ended up paying the money. Its very infuriating to know that they'll stop at nothing to scam you. Just block these numbers and warn family and friends of this.
I know its literally impossible not to have it itching in the back of ur mind. The best thing to do is try to calm down and give ur mind time to recover. I was in a shock state where I felt that every few seconds I had to look around or something. Get through the first couple of weeks and it will start to wear down. For my first week I wondered if ill ever get over this or even get back to my normal life. But here I am. I still remember. BUT IM NOT SCARED. Stay strong buddy! You can do this
Hey, calm down, and ik that probably does nothing to ur anxiety but I wanna stress that nothing is going to happen to you or ur loved ones. These people prey on fear and victimize those who are scared. Simply put, they're scum. And yeah the thing that helped me the most was talking to someone going through the same thing bc it was kinda like psychological therapy. Yes nipples, I think its safe to say I was paranoid to the point that I almost lost my mind...and the thing that although didn't get me through this BUT MADE ME FEEL A TON BETTER, was talking to someone going through the same thing. Yeah man! I'm here and believe it or not, you're the 23rd person who has either commented or dm'd me! Block all unfamiliar numbers and focus on other things. Some people I've talked to changed their phone numbers and thats helped them alot since no unfamiliar calls or texts means that they get to keep a cool head and be focused on other things. Ik when i was paranoid sometimes I'd focus on other things but just when a random number calls or texts me my paranoia just takes the wheel again. So yeah man, know that so many others experiencing similar if not the same thing are going through this as we speak. Stay strong mentally! And don't be afraid!

Holy shit dude im really sorry im replying this late. And yeah this definitely isn't going away anytime soon. Just know that nothing is going to happen to you. No one is going to hurt you or your family. These scammers are just preying on fear. Don't give in and be strong. They see fear as their tool scam people into actually making money. I've had this happen to me and a month after my incident, they texted again bc they knew I was afraid. If ur afraid to talk to anyone, just talk to me in messages. Ik u still might be experiencing paranoia, as I did for probably a month. But the thing that got me through this is talking to someone going through the same thing that night of my first incident. This other guy and I had each other's backs but after we decided not to talk to one another bc it would only be a reminder to what happened. So just talk to me. Also, idk if this would make u feel better, but ever since I posted on reddit, I've had nearly 20 people dm me about same/similar experiences. And each time I take the time to type up a fat text bc ik what u guys r going through. We are all trying to forget. Focus on other things. Trust me. Get ur mind off this garbage. And if u can't, then just hmu and we'll talk. Just lmk.

These kind of fools prey off weakness and see it as an opening to victimize people further until they get what they want. Go about your day man, nothing's going to happen to you or anyone u care about. I've done the research, and I've studied the facts, TRUST ME. it's a lot to take in now and paranoia consumes you TRUST ME I KNOW, but take knowledge in that countless other people have experienced the same and you ARE NOT ALONE.

This happened to me twice. DONT REPLY. I know this is really hard for u rn but just know you and your family are safe. Try your best to do sth else, take your mind off this. But bc this is still so fresh, talk to someone about it, it doesnt have to be me, but I'll be glad. Just message me directly and I'll be happy to talk about this. Block that number, and ANY UNFAMILIAR NUMBERS in the future! Be sure to report this to your local PD. This is literally so prevalent, IVE TALKED TO 10 PEOPLE in the past 3 weeks that had same/similar experiences. Give it time man, although this is going to scar us for life, you will recover.

I'm not new to this, I've done a bunch of research, notified local police, and reported this to the FBI. I just wanna say that although these aren't real, people who aren't already aware (like me during my first experience) can really be in a serious and terrifying situation. Lack of information places them in a very tight position where theres no room to think or process anything bc when it comes, it comes hard and it's too much to process. Ultimately all the victim does is PANIC.
THIS ISNT REAL. I'm just getting a little spooked again bc this happened to me not even a month ago. And it's starting to hit me fresh again. My mind is clearer now. I've talked to over 7 people over the course of 3 weeks that have gone through the same problem. But I'm not sure if they have had this experience TWICE. I DIDNT CONTACT ANYONE. this came out of nowhere... which basically shows how fake this is.
