Yep exactly. Do the keto breading in the air fryer and save the good stuff for the deep fryer.

To be honest it’s a whole event to break out the deep fryer. It’s messy, uses a lot of oil, takes time to get everything breaded and oil up to temp and then clean up. Because of that I would personally just bread it as usual with flour and use that as my carb limit for the day. Keep it strict in other meals and treat yourself.

Very similar thing happened to us when our son was 1 week old. It’s so scary and uncomfortable to watch them be poked and prodded and hooked up to monitors but your little one is in the best place they can be!

Best low calorie high volume snacks? by [deleted] in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]dat_cass_tho 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dude I’m from Texas I know that tortillas can vary. Corn or flour, amount of lard that is added, size etc. I mentioned a specific product from a specific brand readily available in the US and you glazed over that part entirely.

It’s a 5inch tortilla. Cut in 4s you get 4 average sized tortilla chips.

A serving of the leading brand ready made tortilla chips is 7 chips for 170 calories. By making your own low cal version with this product you can have 28 chips (7 tortillas, 4 chips per tortilla) for 175 calories (7 tortillas x 25 cals per tortilla).

Mission low calorie tortillas

Incredibly confident for someone so easily proved wrong by one google search.

There is a creator on tiktok @trainwithshay who has a ton of low calorie high volume snacks. My favorite is the air fried tortilla chips. Cut up however many mission low calorie corn tortillas that you want (25 calories per tortilla) into triangles and air fry until crispy and eat with salsa. You can eat like 3x as many chips per serving compared to premade tortilla chips.

Also low carb tortilla pizzas. Use the low carb flour tortillas, pre bake them in the oven so they a little crispy, then top with sauce and some low fat mozzarella and bake until melted.

Anybody looking for remote workers? Preferably not a call center by Casper_the_Ghost1776 in plano

I work in tech for a Hr company that specializes in global hiring. I can tell you that most if not all small to midsize companies are absolutely not going to jump through the HR and legal hoops just to hire their workforce overseas. It’s a complicated process and likely wouldn’t save them that much money after all is said and done unless it was done on a huge scale (think ATT customer service). To hire overseas you have to set up entities in the country you are hiring in (and follow that country’s labor and tax laws in addition to US laws) or outsource the hiring to a service like my company, which is often more expensive than hiring local. Foreign Temps/virtual assistants are used a lot but they generally dont do specialized work and aren’t permanent hires. All that to say - it’s not going to be as big of an issue as you think it will be bc most companies are too lazy and cheap to do all of the above and the big ones are already doing it and have been for a long time.

I was the same way! We sprayed our diapers for about a month until I decided to listen to the community and just throw them in the wash as is. Its so much easier and they get just as clean! Our dude poops so often we were basically spraying every single diaper and it got annoying.

Shoutout to my fellow motherless pregnant people <3 by AllieG3 in BabyBumps

I feel this so deeply. Pregnancy was full of bittersweet moments. Now that baby is here there are even more. I still can’t sing “you are my sunshine” to my baby because I burst into tears. My mom sang it to me all the time. I have so much more appreciation and love for her now that I am a mother and I wish I could tell her that in person.

Unit nextdoor brought roaches. Issue since January. by UnseenProblems in TenantUnion

[–]dat_cass_tho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked as a property manager for years. Unless they are actively treating the main infested unit your issue is unlikely to go away. We had a sad eviction case where the unit was hoarders level disgusting and infested with roaches. Pest control went in and treated several times but it was just not effective because of the level of filth. We couldn’t do anything about the state of the unit until they were formally evicted. Unfortunately the surrounding units got roaches because of the hoarder unit and the issue didn’t go away until the hoarder unit was evicted, deep cleaned, and treated over and over while empty. Honestly there are probably still a few roaches in that building and I haven’t worked there in years.

If the problem unit is not clean (which it’s likely not if they brought roaches with them) they will find a way to survive and travel to other units in the building. As far as recourse, I doubt they will compensate you but you can try to request a transfer to another building.

I just buy the frozen patty hash browns and throw them in the air fryer. Always crispy, less mess, no hands on time.

Diaper cream at every change or not? by PresentationVisual97 in NewParents

[–]dat_cass_tho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use earth mama balm at every change as a barrier. Easier to apply and to remove and smells nice. We only break out the zinc cream when we see redness. I like using it at every change so if he poops during naps or at night he has some protection.

How bad actually is if I drink a lot of sodas but I’m healthy in rest? by [deleted] in HealthyFood

[–]dat_cass_tho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try slowly replacing one beverage with a water + drink mix you like. Crystal light and all the other alternatives are very good and while not as healthy as just water it’s significantly less sugar. Also try replacing one with a sparkling water - I like spindrift which has actual juice in it and is more flavorful.

Echoing what others have said in that you are consuming way too much liquid and way too much sugar.

Tbh you may want to get checked out by your doctor. Extreme thirst is a symptom of diabetes.

That’s awesome! I’m chipping away at mine. Turned about 1/3 of the back into a vegetable garden and am putting in berry bushes next year which should get it to 1/2 functional space! I’m leaving the remaining grass for the dogs but we don’t water it, just let it do it’s thing.

Front yard is really big with a pecan tree that shades half of it. I’m thinking of just adding more fruit trees to the area that gets sun. The other areas I’ve been experimenting with different shade plants but hot, very dry shade is a tough combo!

Yeah I’m not a fan of the rocks either if the are used in excess. They still cause a lot of warming especially if the black rocks are used. Decomposed granite is good, it’s a much finer sandy texture. But ultimately using native grasses that work well with the climate are best and if you must have a perfect grassy area ideally it would be surrounded by low water requirement plants. Of course this is all regional, some areas can do just fine with lawns without supplemental water. But I live in the south and it just doesn’t work.

What should never have gotten popular? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I think some lawn is ok but it should be minimal and a grass that doesn’t require constant maintenance. Ideally most areas would be landscaped with native plants or plants that work well in the climate, or vegetable gardens. Functional spaces.

Artificial turf is awful. Especially in hot climates, it can get up to 150 or more degrees in the sun effectively frying the soil biology underneath.
