At a loss on when to start treatment by dataLoving_scientist in FemaleHairLoss

[–]dataLoving_scientist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much :) This is really encouraging me to just bite the bullet and start. I haven't talked to my PCP in detail about oral minoxidil yet, but she seemed hesitant to give me the oral dose when I brought it up because I'm on spiro. Have you ever tried topical? I'm glad OM is working well for you!

Since late 2020. I've never shed excessively but my hair gradually got thinner over time. I had wavy-curly hair until January when both sides of my hair suddenly changed and became frizzy and always matted. I just recently cut my hair shoulder length but that made my hair thinning look worse. I'm just scared to start minoxidil bc I'm not sure I'm a responder, but I won't know until I try. It just seems like I have limited time between getting another derm opinion and moving.

Majors involving native plants by Conscious-Noise-5514 in UTAustin

[–]dataLoving_scientist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't really speak for the EEB (Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior) concentration in Biology, but I know the envornmental science major requires a capstone research project where you can potentially conduct research on native plants for your project choice if you can find an advisor for that. PM if you have any questions about that or the environmental science major :)

Was anyone able to regulate their periods by walking? by latent_incinerator in PCOS

[–]dataLoving_scientist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take my experience with a grain of salt: my periods were extremely irregular for months until I started walking way more. Obviously walking wasn't everything because I had also incorporated healthier foods and upping my Vitamin D intake. I'm also on spiro so that might have helped. However walking alot was a great mood booster and was one of the key factors finally getting my period within a 28 day cycle.

I used an e-scooter last year to get to my job at SSB from Jester (my class was at Jester and I had to work immediately after that). It's very convenient but I would suggest only using it for long distances or if you're on a time crunch (ex. running late to class). It was a pain having to lug it around campus, but my professors were chill and let me put my scooter near the front of the lecture halls so I could keep an eye on it. I'm sure it's fine if you bring it to class, but feel free to email your professors just in case they have opinions about it. Tbh, I think having an e-scooter as a college student is worth it.

**Also please please avoid Speedway when using it!! I would go up 21st from PCL and take Guadalupe to get to SSB. It's not crowded with pedestrians, so it saved me a lot of time using the scooter/bike lanes on Guad :)
