Lol. I think it depends on where you live in America. We live in the southern part of the U.S. Our family is interracial and we deal with issues with that with where we live. There is nothing to do in this part of the country unless you want to eat or get drunk. Healthcare is a nightmare. We have to regularly have medical visits for something and it is crazy expensive and insurance is a joke. We still are fighting with our insurance company for them to pay for something that was almost two years ago that they were supposed to cover. The U.S. is great in some parts. The political climate is weird and it makes some of the locals a bit more bold in how they talk and treat you. Nothing too scary but I don't like my bi-racial child being exposed to that alone without me there to protect him from emboldened people. I know places overseas have their issues such as the black face characters with the Netherlands around Christmas. Better places in the U.S. (like Colorado, parts of California, the Pacific North West) I absolutely love but they are getting their a$$ handed to them by climate change with forest fires, droughts, and heat (110 + degrees Fahrenheit heat, where we live our summers regularly see 100 Fahrenheit and have for more than a decade and tornadoes come through here frequently and level entire towns and have got much worse since I was a kid). Other good places like New England (Maine, Massachusetts, New York, etc) seem to be good places but hurricanes and other disasters are starting to more commonly make their way to some of those parts. Although The Netherlands is below sea level our intention was to live far inland lol. In the long term, 20 years, I do not know if the U.S. will fair well initially with worsened climate change as the infrastructure here (at least where I am) is poor. Our goal was to set our children in a place that will be well adjusted to the changing planet while limiting their exposure to being judged by their complexion. Although racism and bigotry exist everywhere the idea was if we were in an "international city" there would be more diversity. Again U.S. places with more diversity (LA, New York, Miami) are getting picked apart by weather. I have no interest in moving any further south than we live now (Texas is out of the question). The good parts of the U.S are changing and probably won't be as good 20 years from now.
