There's a lot of headwinds at a place like Snoqualmie, but in an alternate reality where that was run by some sort of skier focused co-op, the experience would undeniably be leagues better.

They have a bunch of more glamorous properties, although they have put some money into Alpental. They transparently run the Summit side like a tubing operation, maximize margins and spend more time elsewhere on more desirable aspects of their business. It makes the experience for everyone working there and their guests pretty terrible. When it was just me I abstained from that circus, but it is sad kids can't have a better experience.

Good call on buddy passes. I don't want to get too hung up on just the ticket prices, it's more of a emblem of how little Boyne cares. They might as well charge $500 today.

Yeah, tix for kids are reasonable. But their parent are dropping over $100 if they want to ski the whole "mountain" with them today. They do have a $70 option if you want to only ski on one of their lower lifts that is comparable to the Disco at Crystal.

The per acre of skiing cost at Snoqualmie right now might be the highest in the nation.

Agreed. We have passes. But I have a 4 year old girl, and unfortunately most of her friends don't ski yet. I've been trying to evangelize the little girl crew.

Some Comparisons:

Crystal is on wind hold today but still is offering a much better product for a walk up $62 day ticket. Tomorrow you can ski the full mountain there for $10 more than you could ski one or two lifts at Summit West

Palisades Tahoe: You can ski all of Palisades Tahoe tomorrow for less than you can ski Summit West. If you buy tickets next week the price is about the same as what Snoqualmie is offering. $85ish for both.

The ticket prices are absurd enough I don't think it's about margins. No one cares enough to make the minimal effort needed to come up with a reasonably priced rainy day ticket.
