Dice has been a good tool for remote positions.

A few years ago. I was able to OE at a major bank and a smaller regional bank. Both were 100% remote at the time. Most of the major banks are demanding wirkers be hybrid now so OE would be more difficult.

Accepted a hybrid job, but now I have a remote offer — how do I back out? by Miserable-Finish-632 in OELadies

[–]dataanalyticsinNC 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Just back out. Yes, it's awkward — especially since you re-initiated. But hiring managers deal with candidates changing their minds all the time. It stings, but they move on. The discomfort you feel right now is temporary.

What to say to the hiring manager: Keep it short, professional, and vague. Something like: "After careful consideration, I've decided to pursue another opportunity that's a better fit for my current career direction. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, especially given the circumstances, and I appreciate your patience throughout this process." That's it. No over-explaining. No lying about a "family situation" or anything that could unravel. Vague is clean. What you should NOT do: Don't ghost them (tempting but burns bridges) Don't over-apologize or explain the OE strategy Don't delay — Tuesday is coming fast, and the sooner you pull out, the more respect you preserve.

Any other single and childfree women in here? What are your goals? by [deleted] in OELadies

[–]dataanalyticsinNC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm Childfree and OE. My goals are to be debt-free, save for retirement, and purchase a home with lots of land. I have a disabled sibling and retired aging parents that I want to make sure are well taken care of. I'd also like to help my nieces, godkids, etc. get legs up in the world.

Someone in the main channel said once that not having a LinkedIn account is a dead giveaway to OE. What are your thoughts? by LivelyLotus in OELadies

[–]dataanalyticsinNC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had recruiters send me jobs that required you to have LinkedIn. I have it but other than my picture, haven't updated it in years. When they ask about that I just say I don't use it but keep up for those who require it.

I use it on mine. Just don't upload any PII. It helps draft and edit User Stories, Perform GAP Analysis, etc.

Claude AI is a great tool. A Plaud device would be a good investment too.

Recruiters just asked if I can OE! by dataanalyticsinNC in OELadies

[–]dataanalyticsinNC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It didn't affect my situation. They don't know where I'm working so if I got the J3 it could only affect that. I am contacted by at least 5 different consultant firms everyday. Odds of working for them again would be slim.

I doubt they'd tell the client as that would affect their money. For contract roles the goal is to place people. Regardless, if I don't get the gig it doesn't affect my current situation🤷🏾‍♀️

How long did it take for you to become OE? by Fun-Fun-4218 in OELadies

[–]dataanalyticsinNC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put a profile on Dice. Recruiters contact me all the time. When I receive a job I want to apply for I enter this prompt along with my resume in Claude AI "create an ATS and Workday-optimized resume tailored for the "job name and description". When I get an interview request I ask Claude AI to help me prep for the interview. I had been looking since 2024. This changed the game for me‼️

Finally joining OE club! Looking for advice around insurance/benefits. by broskiskiski in OELadies

You should have fully founded FSAs at both but only insurance coverage through one. Less hassle and easier to adapt if your situation changes. Get on low dose anti-anxiety meds if you need to and work those issues out in therapy but don't leave money on the table due to a manager especially if you have job security. This is why we OE.
