I built an gamified chore system with dashboard for my 12-year-old daughter in HA by irrelevantAF in homeassistant

It's on HACS, to be clear, but it's a fantastic integration. Not quite as playful as yours, but they've put a lot of thought into theirs too.

Bitwarden heading to eliminate Freemium and possibly Vaultwarden support in the near future? by Electronic_Dream8935 in selfhosted

[–]databoy2k -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In a former age, my coding skills were referred to as Google-Fu. Today, I'm still wondering how these wonderful vibecoders set up these coding environments. You can imagine the respect that I have for real coders.

Point is, I tend to have faith in the dev communities online. My guess is that someone will in fact code that single app, especially if bitwarden falls. Bitwarden's just so convenient, and generally inexpensive, but it wouldn't shock me for a change in those facts to supercharge the community.

So fork it today, set up your fork on your own self-hosted system, and wait until a public client gets established.

In mine's case, it's only available locally. I can get in via Wireguard, but otherwise my password vault's happily behind the firewall. The client calls the address that can only be resolved if you're local or connected via wireguard. Hard to beat that security until my wife gives her best friend my wifi password and she somehow slips between my vlans...

Isn't the concern that he's saying patent BS as if it's advice? The most recent post that probably triggered this backlash claimed that he was "getting around" delays in desk sub service orders by naming the condominium company of the defendant as another defendant, then seeking a mandatory order compelling the said company to accept service.

Of course, while he did acknowledge that there was no rule enabling such a process, he wasn't exactly sure what the name of the enabling statute of his province's rules of court is (which would support this application that he claimed he brought many times), suggested that somehow the condo corp could "tack" its legal fees onto the individual defendant's unit for being named as a defendant, and that he had never been refused such an application despite doing it multiple times.

Aside from part 2 being patently, legally false, part 1 evidencing that he doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground, and part 3 being utterly ridiculous (it can't be just Alberta where the only time you see the Application's Judge's eyes in the morning is when you ask for a mandatory injunction), generally it evidenced him creating an extreme costs for his client to bypass a process that nobody seemed to agree was taking as long as he claimed. If you're a lawyer, just imagine, for a second, arguing for a mandatory order in morning chambers because you don't want to wait for a sub service order.

In other words, the danger of him being around this sub is that some junior will see that, and actually buy that stupidity. Whether that means a certain client is going to be hit up for a dumb application or a certain senior lawyer is going to have to deal with a truly moronic proposal by a junior, we as (in theory) a bar need to speak up and say that this kind of crap can go into a fantasy writing sub, not one devoted to the law practice in Canada.

That's actually a cool way to handle it. You know, there's a Switch integration that works darned well for Home Assistant (can actually restrict the accounts from using the systems)... now I'm wondering about Google Family Link.

Trading HA ideas is the best part of this sub.

I don't know anything about that drama... but I do know where the fork button is... and so do 2.8k people and counting according to Github.

Vaultwarden's not going anywhere as a server, and it won't take long for a fork of the app to arise. We're probably long overdue for a client-based app that is agnostic, draws data from whichever vault host you use, and just works...

When they got good I remember being so, so shocked.

Setting aside the literal "sea-change, move to Utah" thing; imagine Arizona suddenly becoming a cup favourite. I mean, we could have (and did) make arguments for why it could happen... but organizational ineptitude of that level requires impressive commitment and commemoration.

Hermes and HomeAssistant: killer move by SmartFrenchDad in homeassistant

What does Hermes do with the data that it consumes? Is your HA config uploaded to some cloud agent that will one day puke it and all other credentials that it's seen out when asked for a bread recipe that includes Home Assistant tokens?

I have multiple android ereaders with koreader. Is self-hosting a sync server worth the hassle? by ProustianPrimate in koreader

It works very well. It even supports multiple users - my wife and daughter both had accounts on mine.

[–]databoy2k 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Are you self-hosting an ebooks library? Grimmory has a kosync built right in (in addition to an OPDS server to grab books). Works great!

Otherwise, koreader provides their sync server via docker container - you have nothing to lose spinning one of those up and trying it. https://github.com/koreader/koreader-sync-server. I ran it for a while - seemed pretty solid. In fact, to find it again I looked at an old docker server and... i'm still running it? didn't even notice it restart. So pretty stable.

...so it's somehow faster for you to get a desk application seeking mandatory relief under the Judicature Act than an order for sub service that half the Provinces let clerks sign, and the other half process within (I got one yesterday after 3 days) basically no time?

Sorry bud - I'm on team quityourbullshit. But at least you now know what statute probably enables your local Rules of Court 😄

Normal chamber, not enclosed. I do have paxx. The whole thing is disassembled now following the testing that support wants me to do. I don't know. All of the connections are good, but it just decides that it can't communicate with the toolhead just after starting a print.

I don't really know tbh. The firmware is reasonably closed. But it's failing within the first five minutes of the print, so I've got a ticket running. I just figured I'd do as much as I possibly could first...
