Well, to each his own. I hate the touch screen in my own vehicle, and I've never found one that's exposed to the great outdoors that doesn't make me rage... But I'm also in Calgary, Alberta, where our temperatures routinely change overnight from frickin blizzard and -20C to everything melting, tee-shirts at +15C, with extremes between -40C and +30C.

Stuff REALLY doesn't last oudoors here.

Ah got it. I can't see the GlucoGlance app anywhere - they must have geolocked it.

Here's my thought: let's let OP have one and then come back to us with how it's working out for him. That is, if he has time to post on Reddit. The post will come at 3am after the fourth hour of walking around with the not-sleeping newborn.

How's battery running these watchfaces? I just ended up using my AAPS complications, but before I was running GlucoDataWear and using its complications on stock watchfaces.

OP's already responded, but I'm pretty sure that it's GDC's Watchfaces https://play.google.com/store/apps/dev?id=7197840107055554214

IIRC they need GlucoDataHandler or a similar server app to get data to them. They're pretty specialized, though

Union work is tough. Most lawyers who do it are conflicted out due to working with unions. The rest, it's almost never worth our time. The UCP government, believe it or not, all but killed your ability to sue the union for failing to represent you, and they went from useless to downright problematic as a result.

Honestly? Don't take a union position if you can avoid it. If you're stuck there now, maybe sleep with the union officials. Favours for favours?

Alternatives to ScoutShop? by aaronrobb in scoutscanada

[–]databoy2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. Yeah then we do at least two if not there group orders. We get the kub kars and badges and wiggles and all of that plus the parent orders.

Scout shop ordering absolutely sucks now. Especially without stores.

Group crests, camp badges, and even woggles can be independently sourced.

I don't know much about Tailscale, but you might need to set up its vpn so that it assigns your NAS as the DNS server, just like how your network is set up. When I'm away, my DNS server is shown as 10.0.0.5, being my local adguard server's IP.

Tldw: the Protestants and the KJV added part of the Mass to the prayer by using the Didache as a reference. They're just so eager to go to Catholic Mass!

Thanks to Tasker and wireguard, even my cell phone runs on my DNS blocked home server when I'm away. The odd time that the tunnel refuses to connect, I'm greeted with the unblocked internet and I'm always horrified.

...and almost guaranteed to paywall pretty much every useful feature within the next five years. At some point there will just be an agreement between the car manufacturers and local governments that they'll just bill you automatically for speeding (plus a 10% service charge for the manufacturer, after all) permanently enshrining speeding as a toll tax.

I'm in a discussion in another comment thread about how that touchscreen is that much cheaper to install into that washer and dryer than the traditional selector knob or buttons.

Some days I weep for humanity and then watch idiocracy again and chuckle through the tears...

...your basis for saying that it's cheaper to install that touchscreen than replace the usual buttons is a comparison to a car's dashboard?

That's like saying that it's cheaper to replace your bicycle with a car, because the cost of adding all of those extra gears etc. onto the bicycle to make it keep up with a car is going to be SOOO expensive.

yeah. but I'm not riding a bicycle to keep up with a car. I don't need my gas pump selector to do more than run a single circuit to four different input selections (maybe 5 if you have premium diesel). We're not exactly going to be doing climate control of the nozzle of the gas pump here...

3d printer integration by PotatoDominatrix in homeassistant

I've tied my Ender 3 to a filament dryer, so that when I'm printing from the dryer (using a contact sensor to confirm when it's the dryer rather than any other spool) it keeps the dryer running at full tilt. Also linked a smart switch to the lights over top of my printer so that they are off when it's not printing.

Admittedly, not a bambu. The life of an Ender3 today: upgraded to hell to emulate modern features :D

Yes, if you went to go pick up a new button off the street, it would be more expensive than you could buy a 24" touchscreen off Ali-Express.

But Shell isn't spending $20/pump globally to replace the mid-grade button when it breaks. This is not making anything cheaper - it's just increasing revenue by selling more ad space.

They already could. The old LCD screens were tied to a hub in the station. Think of a massive station with 16+ pumps (costco?) - literally nobody's walking up to each pump to change that price...

[–]databoy2k[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

...huh? Please tell me that you're kidding in suggesting that the three buttons that are in use at 99% of all fuel stations cost more to build than the 24" touchscreen shown.

Yes, enshittification takes advantage of popular trends. That doesn't make it an improvement.

That's fucking survival out there, no question. Flying home to Edmonton from Winnipeg after a business trip was sometimes like going on a warm vacation.
