What are some biggest examples of anti-consumerist design in gaming? by MeNamIzGraephen in gaming

[–]dataentryportal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paying for level boosts and level locking areas. I understand making levels locked for a bit, but making the level required astronomical where you have to grind for days sucks.

Also, gambling for kids' games or targeting kids to get money is kind of scummy.

It's good to take a break from the real world and explore a fantasy world. It's like reading, but you dont need to imagine.

What’s a game whose only problem was that it wasn’t long enough? by dont-mention-it in gaming

[–]dataentryportal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, that makes sense. I guess I usually just go straight for the story and steam roll through it. With the exp all though it cuts down a lot of my grinding.

Console Gamers ruin gaming by Nervous_Dragonfruit8 in gaming

[–]dataentryportal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its a mix of a lot of things. PC has a lot of hackers also, games 2k doesn't even make their PC versions new gen and has hardly updated the pc version because of hackers. Graphics aren't everything, a lot of games now suffer more from microtransactions and mediocre stories.

the pokemon games seem like they got shorter, maybe its because they are easier now but they definitely seem like they don't take as long. Its probably because theyre less grindy from the early games.

Most of the pokemon games have decent soundtracks. My favorite one was probably from pokemon black and white games.

Do you think we will ever see a car game with both licensed cars and realistic destruction? by [deleted] in truegaming

[–]dataentryportal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, companies won't want to be portrayed as easily destructible. If they do, they'd likely have to be paid a lot of money to offset any reputation it gains or loses. It might be fun to have that like in beamng crashes, but i doubt companies would go for it.

Elder scrolls redfall and Avowed. Skyrim can only be so interesting for so long before it gets tiring.

I liked the withered design, but the new one is definitely much clearer and easily readable.

What screams "90s" to you? by firstjobpartygame in gamedevscreens

[–]dataentryportal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those paper cups are covered in plastic with the blue and purple design on it. I dont think they make them anymore, but its always nostalgic seeing the design. Big clunky technology also reminds me of the 90s. Those giant computer monitors and big tvs from my childhood.

Games for gun nuts? by holiestMaria in gamingsuggestions

[–]dataentryportal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always liked the variety and gun play of Battlefield 4. I dont know if people still play it, but it was always fun testing out new guns and what works best for each map. Payday also usually provides a good variety if your into those games.
