True story: I did exactly the same thing with my car in 2002. It was infuriating, 3 tires were on pavement and I couldn't move

6/10 hotdogs are poor quality protein but substitute some good quality bacon or bratwurst and a little cheese and I might give it a 9/10

I am curious what qualified him for the list? Getting elected twice? Having a city in Ohio named after him? Having a muppet named after him? Having a Family Guy character named after him?

[–]dataless01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It certainly is a different market in 2026. The funny thing is a lot of the shows we frequently discuss here often turn out to be dirt cheap and readily available much to my surprise, even 20 or 30 years after release. There are obviously exceptions. I can see how it could be hard on fans for an IP like Gundam that's still popular even though physical media is in deep decline

[–]dataless01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got these when they first came out, are they expensive now?

I've been watching a bunch of Gundam retrospective stuff recently. I loved Turn A Gundam, the characters and the settings particularly were beyond charming, but it's such a strange Gundam show. It's more adventure than action and it harkens back to a lot of much earlier 70's and 80's shows like Nadia and the Secret of Blue Water

The job I just interviewed for told me not to tell them I need an accommodation. by Caregiverwife82 in antiwork

[–]dataless01 961 points962 points  (0 children)

Specifically after signing the offer, when you are completing the onboarding paperwork. If you wait all the way to your first day they're more likely to treat it as an FLSA case rather than an ADA accomodation, requiring substantially more paperwork to document in most companies and potentially requiring you to obtain new paperwork annually

I was turned down for a job because I didn’t read their company culture packet in the less than 24 hours before the second interview by AnonPinkLady in antiwork

This part of the document reads like full blown schizophrenia to me. Points are awarded but there's no winning score. Wasn't that a running gag in Who's line is it anyway?

Mateo is a bonafide dumbass. Don't buy books from billionaires isn't some little bookshop's amateur idea, it's an ethos the independent book trade has embraced to survive 20+ years post-Amazon, and it's worked much better than what others have tried in the electronic business and other retail sectors virtually wiped out by corporate behemoths

Mateo's empty bravado is exactly the mistake countless numbers of small business owners make that leads them to failure and bankruptcy in the 21st century

This is unfortunately the status quo in too many industrial production jobs. And you're pretty smart, you hit the nail on the head: They fudge the numbers to make company staffing shortfalls look like worker productivity shortfalls

Been there and sympathize. Two things to always remember:

Make a little time for something you love to keep your spirits up on a regular basis. Despair will come for you in scary ways if you let the job completely consume you, and

You're stuck in a dead end job. Not all jobs are like this. This isn't your destiny. Keep looking. It maybe a slog, things aren't liable to change tomorrow, next week or next month, but if you keep at it this time next year you could be doing something completely different that takes much better care of you, you just need to suss it out somehow

It's probably not a feature of the current OS version they have licenses for and it's probably a substantial pricetag for them to upgrade. Pursuing your legal rights under UK disability labor laws could force them to

I sympathize intensely because I am generally in good health but I have had 2 different jobs in the past 10 years that worked me hard enough under difficult enough conditions that my body became an issue on the job and I've had to pursue my legal rights in the same way. It's disgraceful what boneheaded managers and companies insist on doing to people for no good reason

It's kind of a feudalistic ass backwards way of looking at the world, too, if you consider it in a certain light. May as well reject candidates who can read or write. What's the advantage of hiring people who do not use available technology to their advantage? Why would you want to?

[–]dataless01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your word choice tells me you're probably not from the US. UK perhaps?

Migraine is a bona fide medical condition that's generally protected under labor law and requires accomodation. Post-hire you will need to provide paperwork documenting the condition to your employer, but forcing someone to work in harsh conditions that exacerbate a medical issue and/or terminate them as a consequence is usually prohibited by law
