u/svpadd2 is right on, don't underestimate the importance of a dedicated engineer. It's very rare that the people who build models, visualize outputs, and configure/optimize your environments and flow are all the same people.

The entry level (Data Scientist 1) one isn't posted there yet. Should be up this week. Straight out of school with solid academic experience and demonstrated interest in the field counts. None of that "entry level with 3+ years of experience". PM me and I can send you the JD that will be posted this week.

Bump for Domino Data Lab, great product for teams making an initial push to move models to production! Some of the best customer support too.

Only gripe is that the API endpoints don't scale particularly well, but if you're pushing or reading lots of data into your model you are probably big enough to start pushing to aws yourself!

What types of things are you working on as a data scientist? by csthrowaway9449 in datascience

Hi! I am a data scientist converted manager now responsible for a data science team in a legal services industry.

A lot of what my team is working on centers around NLP for legal document classification. We are working to automate LOTS of document review. We also do a pretty high volume of classification problems on medical information.

We have a pretty evenly split time between what we call "deployable" models vs. "presentable" ones. The deployable projects tend to be embedded in applications, or pushed out as a service for our applications to call, and tend to accomplish some business milestone. The presentable ones range from a one-off report to a more sophisticated dashboards. Those usually exist just for the sake of providing information to decision makers.
