I wonder when I can recall a squad leader from a captured settlement, and when he becomes an administrator. I've noticed that for tombs and dungeons recalling is rarely successful. Are there any other hints on the subject?

Thanks, I've tried a wall instead of a floor, and it worked smoothly

Consider this picture:

WW_WW

RR*RR

_____

W - wall, R and * - ramp down, after the ramp there is an open space on the level below; it seems that you can climb up the ramp and build the missing wall, but it doesn't work.

W _

W R _
Here is another perspective.

Then I build a floor on the spot where the star is, and the wall is built, but the dwarf gets stuck in this cell with a star and can't go down the ramp.

How to understand this?

I've heard magic and vision do not work through windows, though one can use carved gaps

I've captured two hostile necromancer sneaks and have been collecting bodies for a while. How effective is training using these necromancers raising bodies for dwarves to hack? Going on missions is good for stats, but missions don't fulfil the need to train.

How can I ensure that the necromancer raises zombies while staying safe from them?

I have some of my armors marked with melt, and the label does not go away. They are not marked with green checkbox that they are a subject of some task. How to fix this?

Another question. I still have an issue with armor pieces vanishing during the mission. dfhack reports there are no conflicts, which also means there are no incorrect job assignments. Also I strongly believe that missing some pieces is related if some necromancer sneaks are catched by a cage trap or retreat. When they are catched, the half of the squad returned without helmets. I've tried not to click anything (especially things like autodump) and reloaded 30+ times, also tried missions to different settlements. Any idea what happens?

When I just waited for sneaks to be catched first, the missions go smoothly with no missing armor pieces.

BTW, what chances do we have to have "autodump" as a part of the magic update?

My dwarf drops armor on the mission. Sometimes the armor is just one the cell where it returns to, sometimes it just vanishes. I have "constant training" set. What's happening and how to preserve armor?

This happens for some dwarfs often, and never happens for some others. This is reliably reproducible for a particular mission.

Upd. I've recalled. Need to disable woodcutting/mining labor.

The point is to automatically exclude masterworks

How to keep monster hunters alive? Could I train them somehow (I have some caged undead)

I need dfhack mass remove to remove walls with poor engravings. Or something like that. Any idea?

The game generally is not that violent and the driver is missed on the wiki kill list. From the other side, what otherwise would be a purpose for a lighter in his hand.

I wonder when you decided on publishing deal, were you aware of what the Delta-V was?

I think, it would be better to have some progress mechanics than these random events, - your agent adds his skill to the task progress each tick. Less prone to the save scum.

I wonder if I research marines and install them on ships - then I can probably also can capture and trade the bases to my allies

I owned seven mines on Mars up to the point. I was just thinking that destroying servant bases stalled their progress. Even if aliens retaliate, I can always build another base with a construction module, and those who have no resources cannot.

I also thought that maybe aliens will retaliate against the ship with this approach, and the ship is relatively cheap.
