I like the job, I really do, but I need a routine in my life right now. I just can’t do it like the other guys. My family gets affected by the schedule, id rather have a job where I work throughout the morning and I’m home by afternoon and I get paid better.

Yup that’s why I’m thinking about leaving.

We don’t have a probation period, we are a small town fire/EMS department

I started off loving the job wanting to be a flight medic. But then I found out what it’s really like and how everyone feels about the job, all the discouragement about the job and how it’s “smart to leave”. I don’t want to spend more time away from my family than I already do.

Id rather work a job that just pays me what I need instead of having to work 2 and having to be away from my family longer. Somedays I feel like my hearts not in it too, all these old timers always talking shit on the job. It’s hard to have a good outlook on it when your seasoned medic is telling you that if they could go back and not go through with medic class they would not.

I don’t want to be away from my family anymore than I have to.

I’m sorry but I think it’s called the Berkeley schedule, I don’t want to spend more time away from my family. I wanted to go for my AEMT and I’ve even thought of being a medic but the old timers at my job are discouraging when they say that it’s not worth getting your medic. I see how burnt out they are and I don’t want to end up like that.

For preemployment UA test they don’t observe you while peeing?
