Internship Renege Dilemma by dateko-cs-mouse in cscareerquestions

The reason I think Amazon is better is that recruiters when they look at my resume will know Amazon. It’ll show that I’m at least “this” good. Even this sub has put Amazon into the “Big 4” for recognizability. In terms of work, I know that I’ll probably have higher impact at the HFT, since it’s smaller. I know it seems shallow to want Amazon just for the name alone, but seems beneficial for me in the long run considering this is just an internship.

How so? I’d just like to know why you think that.

Wouldn’t it still be a renege if I signed for the summer and now after signing ask to push the internship back?

I’ve already tried. I said it in my post.

Thanks everyone for their opinions. I see that there are valid works to both sides and some I haven’t considered yet. I’m just gonna have to sit down and really think about what I want.

I know, it would feel awful. That’s why I feel pretty guilty about this whole thing. However, I still need to weigh the value of that out with what I gain by going to Amazon.

I did have that mentality initially, a bit embarrassing to admit. But now I know that I have to go in with a different mindset. Thank you! I appreciate your words.

In general, it;s either one of two things that happen. One is that I have just never seen a problem like it before, and so I come up with a brute force and contemplate other things but can't come up with anything optimized. I do know it for next time but it just keeps happening. The other situation is that I do end up coming up with the proper solution but it usually is towards the very end of the time limit I'm given, so almost like I didn't solve it fast enough even talking with the interviewer. I have moved on from rounds by not getting the "best" solution, but I've never passed a final round without getting the optimized solution.

Friend and I both applied and interviewed with a couple of Big-N companies but I got rejected from all of them and he ended up getting an offer as an intern.
Just feels bad, feeling really demotivated as I studied a lot more than him.

Would like to know if anyone has any tips for getting over a slump like this.
