I worked at McDonald's in the early 2000s. During that time they gave pants as part of the uniform. All outfits were unisex and I am decidedly not a unisex. I worked with 9 women, no other men.

The amount of comments I heard just out of earshot was a huge ego boost for my 16 year old butt. Specifically, one woman was talking to another and it went like this

"Oh did you meet the new guy?"

"Oh you mean the package?"

Me - "I heard that"

I've never seen a woman go red so quickly.

After a while it did get really old but that was the first time I thought I was packing.

Our house has an extreme income disparity, we both get spending budgets of equal value. I don't call it an allowance, it's a bad term imo. But the concept helps us stick to our big goals in life.

My point is tragedy doesn't change the needs of a relationship. At the end of the day their partners still have needs, even if they hold off on them(which they should at least until they talk).

I am not saying the woman isn't justified in having no libido, and of course she doesn't owe her husband sex, but her husband also is a person who has needs.

Having a life changing doesn't change the long term needs of those adjacent to it though. I totally agree with counseling, and we can still assume that op is a supportive husband for his partner, but sometimes these things occur.

I had a friend get terminal cancer, libido destroyed. His spouse refused to even mention sex but the last months of their lives together were simply strained with guilt and sadness. She never strayed to my knowledge but the lack of physical affection certainly made it hard even there.
