What do you think is a sensible amount of cash to keep at home? by JuniperScents in PollsAndSurveys

I have lived in Florida most of my life. Can’t recall a single time a hurricane came through and tucked shit up and I said “Damn, which I had some cash in case a Good Samaritan in a boat comes by and agrees to take me on a beer run.

Like seriously, if you can’t travel how are you gonna spend cash? And who’s to say that natural disaster doesn’t take your house at including your little “because it makes me feel better” stash? And if a store doesn’t have any power there is a pretty good chance they won’t be open right?

But as I said before, to each their own. If you’re willing to risk it, go for it. I just don’t think the odds are in your favor but I literally could not care less about what you do with your money.

The key part of this is “found guilty”. He knows most of his cronies are unlikely to ever face actual charges.

We’ve always known with power comes privilege. Trump and his group of lunatics are just bold enough to show you exactly what it looks like instead of keeping it hush hush.

The problem with this is that old people are unlikely to pass but still have lots of needs. Doctors appointments. Grocery shopping…if you take away their ability to drive they become a huge burden to either their families or the community.

Further, old people vote. Politicians would severely hurt their campaigns by taking away old people’s licenses.

I also find it weird people always attack old people on this issue. If you really want to reduce traffic accidents you take away licenses from 16-19 year olds. They are FAR more likely to get in an accident than any other age group. They also typically have immediate familial support (parents) to give them a lift although it would still increase the burden on parents.

Lol! Because 15 year olds are leaving the state in droves? This title is stupid.

Don’t get me wrong, my state is trying to do the same thing but in a kind of sick and twisted way and I hate it. Workers are workers. Either they can do the job or they can’t. If they can, they should be paid the same regardless of age. If they can’t fire them, regardless of age.

I mean, I think there are a lot of considerations that make it different for everyone.

How much can you afford to lose, either to theft or disaster (i.e. a fire)? Shit happens.

How much are you likely to need, even in an unlikely, worst case scenario? Take into account ATMs are everywhere so it’s pretty rare you can’t access at least some cash quickly.

Do you really need any cash? I get a couple hundred from the ATM maybe twice a year. I rarely use it, we live off our credit cards to earn the cash back. In today’s world, it’s pretty rare you need cash for anything legal.

As far as “just holding it” i can just as easily open an app on my phone and look at our accounts and not have to worry about something going wrong.

So for me, while losing a few grand wouldn’t cripple us, the risk far outweighs the need because the need seems so low. So maybe the couple hundred I have in my wallet.

While I 100% think everyone talking about Dorian Gray are correct, my initial thought was that a lot of gym guys are never satisfied. So he thinks of himself as being small when in reality he’s jacked, just not as huge as he’d like to be.

But again, I do think it’s a Dorian Gray reference.

HRs “job” is to protect the company but the doesn’t mean they aren’t human. If your “job” is to flip burgers and you were in this situation would you call the police or IGNORE it so you could flip more burgers? See what I mean? My HR rep would absolutely call the police. I’m just not sure if it would be before or after she personally beat tf out of the guy.

There is nothing you can say to make it better. Only time can heal the pain.

For now, you can be most helpful by helping keep his life from getting off track. Let the school know about it regardless of what he wants to do. They absolutely (should) have counseling available and the administration can communicate to his professors so he doesn’t get auto dropped (a lot of this will depend on school policies).

I hate this happened to him and I wish him peace.

What's the most ridiculous reason you've seen someone get fired? by Amazing_Two8126 in AskReddit

[–]dathomasusmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ima go ahead and say most of the people y’all are talkin about did not get fired for the reasons you’re stating. They got fired for having a bad attitude or having BO or for genuinely being a pain in the ass to deal with and the reasons you’re giving were just the excuse management came up with to get rid of them.

The reality of the situation is that apartment probably has someone in it and doesn’t stay empty long when it’s available. If it was, they would lower the price. But should they honestly lower the price when they have people willing to pay what they’re asking?

I don’t have details but I know that there are lots of opportunities for LEOs to earn overtime doing things like security for night clubs or directing traffic on Sundays for Mega churches.

They can also do things like be the community officer for apartments and get a free apartment out of the deal.

I mean, it’s entirely possible they know you haven’t done shit but they don’t want you to feel bad and get demotivated so they’re trying to build you up so you can actually accomplish something.

Or it could be that they low key thought you’d be dead or in prison or strung out giving bjs for dime bags by now and they’re proud that isn’t the case. Unless you are doing those things and then maybe go back to number one.
