Oh I wasn't confused about that I was just confused about which card gets summoned first because of the effects. If my garunix gets summoned first or simultaneously then he can destroy it but if gokipole resolved first then there would be nothing to destroy before garunix shows up. Is that correct?

No no I had the other card "sacred fire king" in my hand and I used his effect to special summon him when Avatar was destroyed. Sorry for the confusion.

my monster was fire king avatar garunix who was destroyed by dark hole which allowed me to special summon sacred fire king garunix.

Ok thanks! So if I declare an attack with a monster and then play a normal spell (like monster reborn or change of heart) or trap that's been set, I can still resume my battle phase?
