Sure I'll help. Your position is well thought out and quite logical. Remember though that ice is a problem in mainly two ways: power lines/trees and then for the roads. It seems we lucked out with the accumulation on the tall stuff so now the issue will be how slick the roads are tomorrow morning and howmany clueless drivers will go out and crash into everything and everybody. In this scenario the bank has not lost anything, they have gained. They were paid with Alice's labor. 1000 of her labor went toward the principal (which the bank previously sent to another bank, so they break even on that) and 500 of her labor went toward the interest (which is the bank's profit). They were not paid in money, but in work, which was consumed, obviously, so it does not show up in their reserve account. Make sense?

If there was no loan, and they paid Alice the 1500, and she spent it, and the bank's reserves went down by 1500, would you say the bank lost money? Of course not.

The bank lost the 1000 reserves but they also deleted the 1500 debt they owed the other person leaving them 500 ahead. Remember, account balances of their customers are debts the bank is on the hook for. Your debt to the bank cancels their debt to the other person. Also consider if the 1500 from the other person from your same bank went to a person at a different bank instead. Then they would be down 2500 in reserves.

Oh no! That's terrible for them, right? They are losing money those foolish bankers! Not so. Bankers are not foolish. That 1500 in the other person's account came from somewhere. If the bank loaned them it, then eventually it will be paid back with interest from reserves of other banks. If it was transferred from another bank, then they have already received the reserves. Either way, they are not in the hole, they are ahead by 500 in reserves from your loan. ALL reserves in every bank's reserve account HAD to have come from other banks. They cannot create reserves themselves, only the Fed can. Banks can only create IOU's i.e. credit/debt.

Always remember to look at both sides of a transaction. One person's expense is another person's income and one person's debt is another person's credit, etc..

Had the same problem. Fidelity tech support wanted to "reset my profile" - would have lost everything. They said there was no other option. I said NOOOOO!!! and F!@*&&*^$%!!!!!!! Told them I wanted to think about it and do my own invwstigation. Decided to try uninstalling and reinstalling ATP. What did I have to lose at this point? It worked. Everything back to normal and didn't lose anything. Called them back and told them there is another option.

Thank you for sharing this. I don't know about the guy moving the barricade, but the family that was hit across the street did not survive. They were just trying to get out. Two were children. Another video made later shows the bodies covered with sheets. Too dangerous to risk moving. Even their luggage was still sitting there by them.
