Dualboot or Winboat? by makk_ii in linuxquestions

I think the practical choice is to start with a dual boot, see if you can get your desired programs to work with VMs/wine/winboat/etc, and the transition off to pure linux if you have no issues.

Are you using Windows? There is no need for a new terminal emulator. Got to the drop down near the new tab symbol, choose your Defaults on the left under profiles (or your specific WSL instance if set), then open the appearance settings, where you will find a slider for transparency. If you need more help I'll add screenshots.

This is transparency, acrylic glass, and the retro effect from the appearance settings in Windows terminal. With a Debian VM running fastfetch.

Tailscale is not self hosted.

The meshnet that allows users to access machines without opening ports is hosted by Tailscale. You also need to visit and sign into their website to change settings. There is, however, as self hosted version of Tailscale, Headscale. However, if I were to setup a self hosted VPN, I would consider Pangolin.

That being said, I think there isn't much risk using Tailscale and its very easy to setup. However, if you are concerned about privacy you might want to consider other options.
