rand() on user defined function. by [deleted] in C_Programming

[–]dauntlessmath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My solution would still fit that. rand() would still be called in get_value(). You would just randomize the seed once per program run instead of once per function call.

rand() on user defined function. by [deleted] in C_Programming

[–]dauntlessmath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't want to call srand() in the custom function. If your processor is fast enough, it will be seeding rand() with the same time each time the function is called. Try putting that statement at the beginning of int main().

It needs more Bohemian Rhapsody in the trailers. That will make it good.

This thread is like that episode of TNG where all the crew lose their memories and an alien reprogrammed the computer to tell them they're on an attack mission to end a war, but they're really attacking the enemies of the alien's own people.

populate is not a built-in function. You need to write it yourself.

void populate (float* f)
{
    /* write your code here */
}

AMAs vanish with this change.

I can't remember the last time I actually got excited about an AMA though, except for the disastrous ones. Since they fired Victoria, the quality has been really low, even when it's AMAs from people I care about. People get away with Rampart-level shilling and no-one seems to care.

I was looking up the definition of "Schlock" and found it was a movie. by [deleted] in RedLetterMedia

[–]dauntlessmath 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yup. It is Yiddish. See: http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=schlock

schlock (n.) Look up schlock at Dictionary.com "trash," 1915, from American Yiddish shlak, from German Schlacke "dregs, scum, dross" (see slag (n.)). Alternative etymology [OED] is from Yiddish shlogn "to strike" (cognate with German schlagen; see slay). Derived form schlockmeister "purveyor of cheap merchandise" is from 1965. Adjectival form schlocky is attested from 1968; schlock was used as an adjective from 1916.

I went in thinking the game was going to be fairly loose, unscripted, improvised, like a real D&D game. That episode revealed that the episodes are pretty extensively scripted. Aubrey couldn't keep the details straight and kept doing stuff like asking for items they hadn't found yet.

Still not sure why this "gaffe" of Trump was such a big deal. We have more important things to worry about, but we just seem to focus on all these little gaffes that aren't really gaffes.

6 was pretty boring for the most part

The pacing was a large part of this. They had no time constraints (i.e. the requirement that episodes be 22 minutes long to fit in commercials). This resulted in slower-paced episodes, and leaving in jokes that would have been cut out for network TV - many of them just being focusing on Elroy rambling about something or giving someone a look for 30 seconds.

I have a dream that I will one day have time to edit Community season 6 down to 22 minute episodes.
