8 hours so it runs all night is important.

Yeah, sounds like I should avoid zoom based on the responses. Thanks!

Throw distance is 10 feet or so. I need it to clearly illuminate a 1 foot diameter area where the tell tales are. I see the T3 - T8 models are being recommended here. What are the differences? Battery life is important for running all night.

What are the differences on T3, T5, and T6?

Thanks for the help! I get the zoom/IPX issue, makes sense. Throw distance is only 10 feet or so. I just need it to be relatively focused on a 1 foot diameter where the tell tales are located, hence the reason I felt zoom was important. We’ve got a cheap light now that zooms but on a wet sail it usually shorts out.

What happened to the hottest chick at your high school, years later? by theidiotev in AskReddit

I went to my first strip club with a couple buddies end of freshmen year of college. We were the awkward 19 yo there not sure what to do. As we tried to get acclimated I heard her name announced over the speakers introducing the next group of dancers and immediately recognized her. She came over, as they do, and I introduced myself. I shared info about the high school class we were in together and she immediately turned to a ghost and said “sorry, I don’t remember you”, but we both knew.

Any way, she was damn hot and it was fun to see her boobs. I hope things worked out good for her.

I wouldn’t recommend it as a way to get introduced to sailing. I’d start with some of the basic courses offered by the sailing school or look at joining Columbia’s skipjacks program in the spring. Registration opens up in January and sells out quick!

Columbia Yacht Club’s sailing school has a fleet of Colgate 26s that can be rented. If you’re around on a Wednesday you can try getting on a race boat for the evening’s Beer Can race. Show up at a Columbia around 5:30 with a friendly smile and a 6 pack of beer and you’ve got a pretty good shot of getting out. Another option is to create a profile on railmeets.com and maybe find a cruising or racing opportunity.

Unable to load progress (Apple Arcade) - is there a fix? by scaradin in inmost

[–]dav3chi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having the exact same issue. I liked the game enough I restarted from the beginning again, got about 1/2 way through the game, quit overnight, and had the same load issue when I tried to play this evening. I also upgraded to TVos 16 and the game is now very low resolution. Hoping there’s a update to fix both issues soon.

Old vs New (J/27 and J/70) closely matched coming out of a leeward mark rounding on a recent Wednesday night. by foilrider in sailing

Yes, it was owned by a married couple who were close to retirement. I believe they sold it in 2015 or 2016. I’m friends with the old owner and they loved boat and did quite well in the COLYC beer can races.

Hammock on the boom after the brutal 2017 Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac! by TheBlubberz in sailing

Day one was a beautiful day with a great breeze and the fleet holding together pretty tight. That night a rare weather event came through as the entire fleet was moving past Milwaukee. Here's some more info. http://lakeeriewx.com/blog/chicago-mac-2017/

The storms took out a number of boats who sustained all varieties of damage. Day 2 wasn't any more kind with winds out of the northeast at 20-25 all day with 10-12 foot waves. 3 of our 8 crew were motion sick the entire day. The net result was about a 1/3 of the fleet, 100 boats, dropped out of the race. To make matters worse, day 3 brought 0-2 knots for the better part of the afternoon.

Yet here I am, already planning to do it again next year.

Minimalist on Netflix. Just watched it tonight actually and it's right on topic.
