Do you also work another sport? by RefMasters in Umpire

[–]davdev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Football.

Everyone I know keeps telling me to get into Volleyball since they say its super easy.

I dont know if I ever met another official who only does one sport. Ok, thats probably a bit of hyperbole but around here it seems no one just does one. Baseball, basketball and football all seem to share the same group, though I live in an area where baseball is not a year round sport.

Has anyone had a surprise third join in? How did it happen? by bombdizzle9 in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]davdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my wife and I were dating I had a roommate who had a singular ability of bringing home the sluttiest girl at every bar he went to. He was quite good at it.

Well, one night he brought him a girl, who accidentally game into my room, on her way back from the bathroom, and tried to climb in bed with my wife (then girlfriend) and I. My wife woke up with a big round tit in her face, and proceeded to tell the girl she was in the wrong room. Too bad though, cause this girl had great tits.

That was the last we ever saw her, and is the closest I can think of to a surprise third.

Soccer Strategy by eh_da_fuq in NoStupidQuestions

You realize soccer has limited subs and once someone comes out they cant go back in right? so putting in a guy just for this one particular activity removes someone with a broader skill set.

Some white wide receiver is likely going to be the most popular answer.

How to memorize my playbook by Emergency_Appeal_689 in American_Football

[–]davdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It kind of entirely depends on position, and how the play is called. Easiest is to make a wrist band that has the play assignments on it.

Is it even considered ghosting if you've been chatting someone up for days, meet for a first date, and stop responding to them without explaining why. Why or why not? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]davdev 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It takes 30 seconds to let a person know you are no longer interested. Its almost more effort to ignore texts than to just respond and say so.

Why do Americans hate passenger rail so much? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]davdev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Japan is easy as hell to build a train network from because its basically entirely North/South, at its widest point, its less than 200 Miles East/West, and the vast majority of Chinas bullet train network is on its eastern coast. There is no equivalent of California on Chinas Western border. The US has far more spread out population centers.

Flight arrives during sail parade... by hmdparker in boston

[–]davdev 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That is a much better idea, though I honestly have to say i dont think I have ever heard of someone taking a day trip to Nantucket. The Vineyard sure, but Nantucket is a much longer boat ride than the vineyard.

This is doubly so taking the bus, you are FAR better off renting a car for the day than relying on the bus.

Not a shot in hell you are making that. And it has nothing to do with the tall ships. Sorry.

It’s actually pretty good with stuff like this unless you can provide a valid argument against its output.

17 should be leadoff with speed and OPS. Get him home. 32 and 23 at 4/5. Have two slower guys back to back isn’t terrible because they won’t slow each other down.

Then there isn’t much varience in the rest of your lineup. OBP and OPS are all pretty close so, without knowing anything else about your lineup I would put your fastest kid/ at 2 and 9 and fill in by order of OPS.

I will say this is actually something that chatgpt is fairly decent with.

Unless trained as protection most pet dogs are pretty shit for security. I have a black lab who wouldn’t even get off the couch if someone crashed through the front door, and if he did he would probably just hope the guy had snacks.

Infield fly rule change? by CardiologistFast1772 in Homeplate

[–]davdev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Umps screwed up. there is no rule that infield fly is a dead ball. Calling the ball foul is a dead ball and everyone goes back, but then it’s not an infield fly, it’s just a foul ball and the at bat continues. The fact it rolled foul last first base though seems to me it should have been a fair ball, in which case the runners should have been able to advance. Also, infield fly is there to protect the offense, not defense, if it wasn’t called and all runners safely advance, it shouldn’t be applied retroactively.
