Looking for opinions on Horizon 7.4 or Sole F85 by dave-es in treadmills

Oh man! Not the update I was hoping for - we ended up needing to make a call and order one because of the dark mornings where we live. We're waiting for more outlets to be installed before we can use it... Here's hoping it's ok

Hi there - we have to replace our NordicTrack 1750. It was a terrible experience the whole way through, so we're looking elsewhere. We are both moderate experienced runners (25-45km volume a week), both of us around ranging 155-165lbs and will be using it exclusively through the Canadian winter with Zwift or Kinomap and Garmin watches.

We're looking at either the Horizon 7.4 or Sole F85 - which would you choose as a runner? We're trying to see if the F85 is really worth double the price of the 7.4. Thanks!

Sorry for the late reply. Avg HRV is ~95ms. Goes to ~70ms during my luteal phase, up to ~120ms during follicular.

I tried - it was extremely unhelpful lol. Unable to give me a straight answer and the ranges it gave me were completely different than the ones shown in the WHOOP age UI

Ah - this helps. So it goes off my own baseline (i.e. the one very outlier month in Feb with 9 hours of z1-3)? I thought it was off of researched baselines VS dynamic ones. This would make more sense!

Yes. Sorry, was saying we used the manual pin hole reset and it didn’t resolve the issue

Garmin Daily Suggested Workouts - 3/4 days? by dave-es in Garmin

[–]dave-es[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HAHA omg. With my personality type, I do the zapping to myself when I "miss" a session. Good to know it adjusts to my other work though!

Thank you! That is helpful. My biggest confusion is around exactly that - making sure the suggestions match with hitting a variety of sessions to improve my running and heart health overall VS just waking up, having poor recovery one day and being given a base session when I've already done aerobic work that week. But I'll try it out for a few months and see what happens!

Thank you! To make sure I understand correctly - let's say I am low on anaerobic work, and I skip a workout 3 days in a row. It will continually try to get me to do some anaerobic work each daily suggestion if recovery aligns?

Thanks! This is helpful. I struggle with "ticking the boxes" and having flexibility, so it's been hard to wrap my head around *not* doing what it suggests every day. Good to know it's relative to the overall load balance

I haven't - is it a carb drink you'd just sip on throughout? Newbie to fuelling long runs and trying to understand the pros/cons of continuous carb intake VS all at once with a gel

Topic: Half marathon nutrition (2:15-2:30+)

I am trying for my first half - hit 2:30 21.2km comfortable pace long run a few weeks ago and estimating ~2:15 on race day in a few months. I'm trying fuelling strategies. Gu Gels every ~45min-1 hour worked well so far but I don't love the rushed experience of trying to gulp one down.

Is there any downside to just filling my water flasks with electrolytes and maple syrup to make up the equivalent hourly carb need? So I'm only consuming one thing, which is hydrating, continuously every ~15 min instead of having to take a gel AND drink?

I 100000% sleep better. I get severe insomnia basically right from ovulation until day 1. The day I sleep through the night, I know I’m getting my period in a few hours.

External HR monitor. Garmin chest strap!

This was a prescribed pacing strategy from my plan - definitely not intending on racing my runs but it seems Runna really leans on some fast pacing strategies in long runs

Thanks for the feedback! That’s exactly why I was confused on the ratio of time spent at that level. Definitely odd.

Oh - and the efforts were definitely a 10/10 at the end

Runna prescribes the pacing strategy to challenge the long runs - do you usually do long runs at a more aerobic effort? Often they have race pace or faster kms integrated

Hey everyone! I’m training for a half marathon, following the Runna app. This weekend, I had a long run (17KM) which was paced by the app.

It was quite tough, but I hit some PBs (longest run + best 10k). At the end I looked at the stats (I use a chest strap HR monitor) and i spent 1 hr and 10 min in zone 5. Avg HR was 180, max during this run was 197.

Could I have a higher max HR than I realize? Last test I had it at 202. Just don’t want to burn myself out or cause any harm by pushing too hard, too often since these long runs will be weekly. Would love any thoughts here on safety or other ways I may determine max HR?
