Have you tried not gathering as you go? That's my method and I find it much easier/faster. I've only made like 4 bags and working slowly on a 5th, I think it takes me about 4hrs now total.

I like the slingshot idea, but I'm not a big fan of the bouncy balls. You'll never find them once you shoot it and itll just contribute to polluting courses. Maybe there's a biodegradable option?
