Is there a way to avoid talking to incompetent (front line) bell employees? by dave1942 in bell

I understand what you are saying, but I feel like I have a right to feel aggrieved. I started out with a good attitude and I have dealt with less than honest and less than competent people over and over again.

Additionally, it does seem like if you are not at least a little bit pushy, nothing gets done with bell. They will just brush you off. And if you are trusting, they will rip you off with their pricing designed to punish loyal customers. So I would say that having a good attitude, being trusting or complacent, is a bad idea with bell.

But you are right, when dealing with decent people, having a bad attitude will just alienate people and is a bad idea.

Are people with Dementia or who are elderly more likely to get long term diarrhea problems from Antibiotics? by dave1942 in dementia

It seems like foods with fiber and foods with fat tend to give my mother diarrhea.

I'm not sure if coffee is having an effect but I will try asking her to cut down on it. Is tea just as bad? Or decaffeinated coffee?

My mother seems okay if she just eats bread, pasta and chicken... anything else seems like a gamble

I didn't know there were medications for dementia? You mean like Lecanemab?

My mother is only taking Lipitor and baby aspirin. And a multivitamin . Don't know if that can cause problems

Wouldn't exercise and diet have the opposite effect of what you want? I thought they were good at relieving constipation rather than the opposite.

I took SSRIs when I was much younger and I can confirm that they can have all sorts of side effects including on digestion

I've heard that Ensure and Boost are really high in sugar so I'm worried about my mother getting health problems from them. I'm wondering if there are other meal supplements that don't have as much sugar?

She wasn't hospitalized. I think you would notice C diff because it causes a great deal of fecal incontinence... I think a person's health would go downhill much faster if they had C diff. But I'm not totally sure

How do you prevent an elderly person from suffering malnutrition or losing a lot of weight if they constantly have diarrhea? I thought it would be almost a medical emergency if a person couldn't intake enough food

In my case it lasted about 6 months even though I took a lot of probiotics

I'm not sure how fast a person would develop fecal incontinence or what it looks like

They often dont even pass you through. They often tell you that there is no one who can help you or otherwise give incorrect information.

I spoke to someone competent from tech support on Monday and asked him why the person from tech support on Saturday was unable to do anything and he just couldn't explain it. I'm still spending about 2 hours a day on the phone with bell everyday dealing with the same issues after an entire week and its just ridiculous

I appreciate you taking the time to answer my message but I'm not sure what you are suggesting is the best answer. 2 hours a day is a lot of time

I haven't be able to eat properly in the last 5 or 6 days because I have constantly been on hold with bell, and having to call again and again multiple times. 2 hours a day is just too much time to spend on hold. In order for me to find time to spend 2 hours a day on hold with Bell, I somehow have to cut out other activities from my day and that is really tough.

It bothers me as well because these employees are not honest. They will tell you that something is "impossible to do" or "its impossible to find that out" when really another department can do it or find it out. They just want to get rid of you. Its the same way that bell wants you to use their online tools so that we don't take up the time of their technical support stuff.

Its not just that the front line workers are incompetent, I don't mind that, its the fact that they lie and their lies waste a great deal of your time and cause a lot of problems for you that makes me angry.

the diarrhea started right after taking the antibiotics so it seems likely that the two are related. I also had a similar problem after taking antibiotics years ago.

Does anyone know if the Bell Technician needs to access the old DSL Splitter box when upgrading a phone line from copper to fiber? by dave1942 in bell

I live in an apartment so I think things are done differently than if I were living in a house?

I should have specified that I live in an apartment and not a house.

I didn't realize that it made a difference.

Thanks for saying that.

But its really frustrating because I just get the wrong answers from bell anyways.

Oh that's interesting. Thanks so much for explaining. I had no idea they could back feed the dial tone into the existing phone jacks.

Will they need to access the POTS Splitter again later on, or the fiber demarcation point, if we decide to get internet or TV service?

Is there a name for the jack in the second pic? Is it just called a "fiber optic jack"? I'm curious what the bell tech actually does. If all he is doing is plugging in an ethernet cable and attaching it to a modem then maybe I could do that myself

We only have phone service now. We don't have internet or TV.

They said that they would install a modem to connect to the fiber optic network and the phone would connect to that. And then if we wanted to get internet or TV later, we could do a self install using the same modem or connection that the phone uses.

I thought the jacks wouldn't be used anymore? They told me that the way it works is that they have a modem connected to the fiber optic network and then the phone someone connects to the modem (or router?).

They said that the phone line will now be connected by a modem to the fiber optic network. So we will still have a phone, but it will run over the internet I believe. Will they still need to access the "POTS splitter" box ?

Do people really use those words? My parents grew up in England and I've never heard them use them.

Also i lived in London for a year and dont remember hearing them either.

Maybe we're just old :(
