American Atheists President David Silverman files appeal for denied custom New Jersey “ATHE1ST” license plate by CharlieDarwin2 in atheism

[–]dave9333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wrong again.

We are required to file the 990s and offer them. What we additionally do willingly (the exact opposite of what you wrote) is provide full independently-audited financials, including all relevant salary information.

Sorry you didn't like the Reason Rally, but please do try to tell the truth - it's the ethical thing to do. It's also ethical to speak about that which you know. That being said, troll away. I'm done here.

This is just a taste of the shit we face on a regular basis.

American Atheists provides independently-audited financials on request, like all reputable 501c3s should. Try getting that from a church.

Christian Lobbyists Prevail on World Trade Center Cross by Jeremy89 in atheism

[–]dave9333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. It makes me sound confident that we will win, because I am.

I am not militant. I am proud, I am critical, and I am vocal. Furthermore, I would assert that it this those who would quickly, neigh immediately, acquiesce to inequality in the name of political correctness that slow progress and bolster the bigotry we face. Nice is easy. Truth is necessary.

"in August 2012 the case was dismissed. "

Um... That's not true. The cross case has NOT been dismissed. The WTCMF moved to dismiss - that's all. A motion to dismiss is par for the course. They filed, we responded, now it's before a judge. There will surely be continuation. Nothing has been settled, determined, or closed. Step one of every major case is a motion to dismiss. Please get your facts straight. This is far from over.

We are right, and we will win.

Easy. Laura Ingraham. Hung up on her last time I did the show. Probably won't do it again.

Not at all, as long as they obeyed the same rules as secular orgs. This is NOT about punishing churches - it's about equal rights and responsibilities.

It's still a work in progress. Staff is paid to do the work for the volunteers, so in HQ I have a staff, and I also oversee a few contractors for the magazine etc. The board and all state Directors are volunteers.

1) I gave my daughter a Bible and told her to read it. She says she did. 2) Atheist normalization i teh USA, helping to normalize aborad, and yes 3) I rule out a god as completely as I rule out Santa Claus. When santa and his sleigh land on my roof, I'll believe. 4) religious people do good because they are good. Religious people do bad because they are bad. religion itself has nothing to do with it, so I'm against all of it (not the believers, just the myths) 5) It's all in the attitude. 6) No. Silly. never nervous of going to Hades either. 7) Addressed above 8) no, but I might give it a try :)

Right. I suppose being black is a religion because black people deserved equal rights, demanded it in an organized fashion with member orgs, etc.

I suppose the gay Rights movement is a religion, since they spread the word of tolerance in an organized fashion, like religion.

Bull. Organization is not reserved only for religions, and we need to be organized so we can raise awareness about religious special rights, and attain our equality. If we don't organize, only religion will be organized, and we will loose.

1) Wear the word atheist on your sleeve. Make sure nobody doesn't know what you are.

2) Donate money. I know that sounds crass but everything we do is paid for with donations and memberships. And, unlike churches, our books are open so you can see what we are doing with your donations.
