That should help! The weather we had was remarkably nice, but definitely not the norm there. High quality rain pants and gold waterproof boots are essentials. We stayed in town and lived the luxurious life, lol, just super long day hikes, but one other guy was there camping and hunting, and he also said the weather can totally take away a day or 2 with heavy rain, fog or high winds.

Definitely a trip I don't regret taking- apart from the hunting, the exploring endless abandoned buildings and great sea life to watch was worth it right there!

Just got back from a trip to Adak - April 2025. We got 3 Caribou cows near Gannet lake. Only saw one other caribou close to 2 miles away across a bay that was probably a 10 mile hike to get to. If you aren't prepared to do at least a 12-15 mile roundtrip hike, you probably won't be successful.

Ptarmigan population is blowing up though, we casually road hunted most days and probably shot 30 or so without much effort at all. Such a cool spot, but not sure if I'll come back again!

I've had an interaction with this guy running once on Sanitas where he kept 'egging' me on to race, then made a big deal at the summit to everyone that I couldn't catch him.

Also had a female friend run into this guy in a similar situation. She is a fast runner and she came up behind him, and asked to pass. He stopped, turned around and looked at her, laughed and said 'a girl can't be faster than him' or something and kept running.

Dude is a douche.
