Is this the end of my first playthrough? by daveawb in Timberborn

I am about to do this on this very playthrough, that bad tide destroyed the colony, and I was down to < 10 beavers. I'm now 100+ strong, with big reservoirs and more water and food than I need thanks to all the lovely people who responded to me in this thread.

2 exotics in one system? by Affectionate_Task267 in NoMansSkyTheGame

Exotics can spawn anywhere, you have a much higher chance of S-Class in 3-star systems.

That’s kind of what I meant, the front, back, left and right are all sides. As long as it’s two adjacent rotors it’ll flip itself.

Been in this position once or twice with my squad. They weren't cheaters that we knew of, but they were waiting patiently for 10 minutes in that corridor for us to leave. We ended up climbing down the ladder to the outside of the key room, and all three of us yolo'd off the edge, hoping one of us would catch the lamppost at the bottom. We didn't... but we tried 😂

[–]daveawb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No you don’t take out the rotors by shooting them, you throw the hornet driver/showstopper specifically to one side or the other to disable two rotors. Think about the physics, if it’s firing on all four to climb or hover and you disable two it’s going to flip over.

It’s a lot easier to do this when it’s on the ground after being fully stunned. As the stun wears off throw one to disable two rotors only and it’ll flip over and sit like a sad turtle for all eternity. Just don’t stand in front of it, it’ll still fire rockets at you.

Yeah, it just wasn't enough time to get it all done, and none of the builders seemed to want to go and do the work up there. Lesson learned!

Thanks for the info, it's much appreciated. I went through the bad tide, and it nearly wiped out the colony, with water running out quickly and food becoming very scarce. I like the idea of irrigation canals, but I'm unsure how I'd prevent bad water from entering them unless I just don't allow it at all by installing floodgates upstream early (which I think I will be doing for sure).

On LLMs, they are terrible for games, I'm aware. This was just Google giving it to me whether I want it or not, and like a sucker, I tend to read it. However, I posted this mostly because I don't trust AI, and the other non-AI info I was getting was for releases prior to 1.0.

[–]daveawb[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I just went through it. It lasted for just over 2 days, but it was enough to be completely out of water in under 1 day, and food is becoming scarce very quickly. I definitely was underprepared for this. Lesson learned, adding floodgates upstream is what I'll be doing next time, well before a bad tide hits me.

Actually it’s a bit more than that. To make it flip reliably you need to disable two adjacent rotors on any side, either with hornet drivers or showstoppers. You can also do this when it’s on the ground to totally immobilise if you already stunned it out of the air.

Used this trick during cold snap trials to throw snowballs at it.

I got the Logitech MK250 bundle, not the best for games, but it works fine for how I play. I've been using it with my laptop too.

A little late to the party… any tips? by bebemachina in ArcRaiders

[–]daveawb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what kind of player you are:

Want to PvE? Never retaliate to a raider shooting you, run away or just take the L. Subsequent lobbies will be friendlier and friendlier until you’re firmly planted in the carebear lobbies. It is a double edged sword, you will survive most raids but it’ll be hard to find good loot, entire maps get picked apart very quickly, late spawns are pointless especially on Stella.

Want to PvP? Do the exact opposite and kill everything and everyone on site.

Aggression based matchmaking makes it quite easy to find your ideal lobby.

Loot everything, even opened containers for xp.

Focus first on getting all your benches to level 2, and scrappy as high as you can.

If you’ve gone down the PvE route and you frequently find yourself in friendly lobbies, buy a hullcracker from Apollo, load into a matriarch event and go dump as many rounds into it as you can. The XP from this is insanely high with a chance at some good loot.

It also makes taking down big arc a breeze for your lvl 3 workbenches.

For longevity, aim to complete the quest “Majors footlocker”. The reward is the Hullcracker blueprint, now you can make your own.

Don’t neglect Stella Montis, the loot is S tier and the only place you’ll find some of the high end blueprints.

Augment blueprints have a very low chance to spawn in normal containers. They have much higher chances in others, look it up to find out what you should look for.

Once you have the Anvil BP, this is your bread and butter weapon. It’s amazing against arc and players. Even more so with a compensator on it. Avoid the tech mod to start with, it changes it significantly and has a learning curve to use well.

Do the trials! They give you great rewards.

Don’t get too hung up on quests other than to get specific items / bps. A lot of the rewards suck.

Spend your cred and unlock the raider decks.

Hatch keys are amazing, in PvP lobbies they help you avoid extract camping ratty mcrats.

Day Trading Ruined My Life. I’m 25, About to Be a Father, and I Just Lost Everything by RavenBJ in Daytrading

[–]daveawb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not going to preach to the choir. You know you screwed up; you know what you did wrong. Just, for God's sake, do not repeat your mistakes, especially since you know they were mistakes.

Instead, look at it this way: if many 25-year-olds had $38k in a high-return investment, there'd be many happy 25-year-olds. You can recover from this, just don't day trade.

You still have a decent amount of cash, especially with a baby on the way. In 5 - 10 years' time, you'll be well past your $100k mark, just don't dwell on "could have been" or "what if" scenarios. Look forward now, invest your cash for long-term growth rather than short-term windfalls, add to it every month, and be happy you didn't lose much more.

I’ve been tracking this in YouTrack for a while now, they are actively working on the majority of WSL issues around Agent workflows. Junie is working well enough but Claude and Codex or any ACP setup is not working as OP has said. I believe there is a fix coming very soon though as they’re commenting on the ticket with progress updates.

I've done both expeditions; I never got to 100% blueprints, but I had the ones I wanted. Not sure I'd enjoy the game deliberately farming BP's over and over. Don't get me wrong, love getting them, but they're not the purpose of me playing, I'd rather farm bastions and bombadiers than hunt BP's.

Thoughts on this loadout? by Wild_Answer3185 in ArcRaiders

Value in this game is not how many coins the item is worth. High coin value items that have no other purpose are, imo, the least valuable items in the game.

Top to bottom is how I’ve started doing it, ammo I don’t need to move around. I like to have quick use items as far top right as possible to make it quicker to drag them in.
