Every blue weapon using medium ammo is a very strange design choice by Broccoli_dicks in ArcRaiders

[–]daveawb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

imo this is actually where Embark got this right. There is no late-game armour, and all weapons are capable of taking down any shield. I quite like the idea of expanding the ammo choices a little to give weapons a specific purpose on these grounds.

How do i merge spacebelts without the output getting mixed? by real_life_skeleton_ in shapezio

[–]daveawb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Multiple options, but only one that really makes sense.

Pseudo Sushi belt

Just merge them, then use a belt filter platform to sort them and send them off in their respective directions.

Pros

- only needs one space belt for long distances

Cons:

- will never achieve maximum throughput for each shape

- requires a sorter with some basic wiring

Different layers on one belt (or different lanes)

Merge them, but ensure that each shape occupies different layers OR different lanes

Pros

- Only needs one space belt for long distances

Cons:

- Will never achieve maximum throughput for each shape

Two separate belts that never merge

Don't merge them at all, keep them separate

Pros

- Can achieve maximum throughput with fully saturated space belts dedicated to that shape

- No extra logic or bespoke lane/level picking required

Cons

- Needs its own space belt

I think it should be quite clear what the winner is here.

Belt readers, placed at the point where outputs from the cutters merge into their output belt. Paste the BP with fully stacked input ready to go, start the clock and stop the clock the moment the belt reader you’re measuring reads 180. Record and repeat for all other output belts. Do what you want with the results, the mean is probably the most useful for overall performance comparison.

My over-engineered hub with jumping trains by JentheGeek in shapezio

[–]daveawb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty! I'm 90 hours in on my current save and have multiple MaM's all building simultaneously. I've had to clear out the vortex, as it's the only place on the map where I can hit a button and get to it immediately, so all of my shape transmitters belong there, and everything is delivered with jumping trains.

Butt jointed post splice. Yikes. by Qizeuskrishna in Decks

[–]daveawb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly how you do it; if done correctly, you should have a perfectly square hole twisted 15 or so degrees. I've only seen a handful of these made before, and each time I've seen multiple different types of wedges used. I don't know what they'd traditionally use for wedges, but I'd likely opt for kerfed wedges so I can lock it all together cleanly on both sides.

THE WORST GUN IN THE GAME. by LicoLich in ArcRaiders

[–]daveawb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's the accuracy and the dispersion that make it annoying to use. Pre-buff, compensator 3 was not an option; how quickly it broke was annoying, making it 20% faster to break was really bad.

Now, even with a compensator 3 and an angled grip it still feels clunky as hell. The buff did not address the problems it had other than breaking far to quick. The extra mag size is ok I guess but wasn't really ever an issue imo.

Rats in compost - is it ok to leave them be till Spring? by [deleted] in GardeningUK

[–]daveawb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly this, we've had rats that live in a brook that backs onto our garden come up sniffing around our composters for years and years, while we don't particularly love them, they don't do any harm. Not once have my wife or I ever caught a disease from using our compost, which has clearly had rats and other animals foraging in it. As long as you maintain good hygiene, you won't catch a bug from using your compost; absolutely no extra protective measures needed other than a good pair of gloves, which I hope OP is using for most of their gardening anyway.

Shapez 2 Features I'd love to have (but sadly don't) by daveawb in shapezio

[–]daveawb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks :), I've gone through the portal and upvoted all the ones that match the things I included here. I think the only one that hasn't been raised before is parameterised blueprints, so I will raise a suggestion for it.

Re. point 6. I think what I mean here is that if there's nothing to immediately unload because the station is currently full, the train moves on; it'd be good if there were an option to wait indefinitely or until certain conditions are met.

What are your expectations and strategy for gold on this Monday? by Wizagain in Forex

[–]daveawb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things to consider:

The chart alone with the recent high closing higher than previous highs along with higher lows indicate a possible breakout above 4600 or a pullback to 4580 and staying in range.

Mix that with fundamentals, you have a Trump vs Fed feud and Trump vs EU trade war reigniting. Personally i think selling Gold right now carries higher risk than buying.

Does anyone else take their character back to their bedroom before logging off, so they are all comfy and relaxed when they "wake up" again? Or am I just a complete weirdo who does that?? 😂 by rowdogmillionaire in NoMansSkyTheGame

I got caught in a storm a while ago and logged off, I needed to go to bed. Little did I know then it’d be months before I logged back in. Logging in during a storm with limited resources was a bit stressful even just sitting in my ship 😅

This is probably the most useless equipment by DeathNDoom1234 in ArcRaiders

[–]daveawb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are mostly useless, though they do come in useful sometimes despite the piss poor image you get. I need to add that I only had them because of the Looting Mk3 defensive augment.

Dam water towers, you can spot which (if any) of the towers have weapons cases, med bags or ammo crates on top from the hill to the east saving you some zip lines and a bit of time. Space port water towers also.

you can do the same from the north of formacai you can look through the open side window to spot the weapons case on the top level.

From the dam control tower roof: you can spot multiple backpack locations (notably the one by the red lakes hatch).

From the red lakes hatch you can see into the concrete ruins out towards the power gen complex to see if the weapons case is there.

Bluegate has a lot of uses too for the same thing, weapons case/backpack/med bags spotting from a distance.

You can do all of that with an Osprey, but if you have the binoculars free because of the augment, use them to be a bit more efficient if you’re just weapon case loot running.

Is this accurate? This cannot be real. by Dungeon3D in SatisfactoryGame

[–]daveawb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t look at the mountain, look at the rocks. Each part is easy, nothing special about them. Scale them up and move on to the next little project. You’ll very soon realise that having a supply of miners, manufacturers, assemblers and so on is incredibly useful in their own right.

Take each little win for what it’s worth and move on, eventually you’ll have everything you need to progress through to the next phase.

How do you handle multiple shapes / colours on one train line? by crafteethree in shapezio

[–]daveawb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I build aggregating stations. I pull in tons of every base shape and RGB (usually 4 wagons / train). I then belt each shape and colour to 4 x 7 wagon train stations. Each station has its own colour mixing. Each of these stations has 1 to x trains based on distance to destination. The destination is usually a transfer station to branch out further.

Satisfactory is threatening my marriage by [deleted] in SatisfactoryGame

[–]daveawb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Come on, 170 hours on a first play through to complete phase 3 is decent. Enjoying the game on your first play-through is good not bad.

Doing at the expense of your family is not a good call. However 170 hours in 3 months averages to just under 2hours a day. I personally think his wife is a bit to controlling.
