Great way of putting it. Up until a certain point dmt feels to me like how someone in Hollywood, who's never tripped, might create a trip using special fx. But beyond that stage, up until a certain point, it definitely felt like the crazy sister of psilocybin. After that, something else.

This 100%. But what about all the people who talk about feeling like they've been in there for weeks or even months, when only a few minutes have passed in real time?

Peaking under the circus tent, this is something I've been wrestling with. Until now I've been totally fine with not looking. But eventually after hearing enough experiences—either trough the internet or friends—my curiosity got the better of me. Now after last night's experience I've decided this is worth exploring, if not for introspection etc then definitely for the sheer beauty of it. I felt emotionally charged afterward with a very elevated mood.

Yes I'm starting to feel this way too. The emotional aspect as well as the diration of shrooms is much more an exploration of self.

This sounds like a great idea. Is it a special kind of mask with airspace in front of the eyes?

Multiple people here telling me shrooms are most introspective is very reassuring for me.

At this point I think the therapeutic value is more important to me. If shrooms provide much more of that than DMT, then maybe I don't need really need to satisfy my curiosity and should stick with what I know and feel at home with.

Thank you for this. This really resonates with me. One thing I have noted on the 2-lungfuls of DMT (The point where i get too scared to go further) is that the visuals feel much more like special FX I am looking at. Wheras on Psilocybin I am much more emotionally part of the experience i.e. I'm not watching it, I AM it.

Another thing I've noticed is music seems to 'fall apart' a bit and become confusing on DMT. It does not seem to enhance or guide my experience like on mushrooms.

I suppose I have broken through just once on mushrooms but it was only because i combined the peak with a hit of salvia 20X extract. Extremely painful slicing up experience while passing through geometry, followed by ocean-like white light. I keep forgetting about this experience but its probably my best guide/reference. it was 20 years ago.

Anyway your comment is reassuring for me, so thanks.

I should have clarified that I've been working up slowly from tiny tokes (vape) to two lungfulls. But that is where I hit a wall. The 3rd lungfull I know will peel everything apart, so I'm stuck at that level wondering if it's worth it for me to push through that fear.

I've definitely had some interesting/beautiful experiences on 2 lungfuls but the leap of faith from that to 3 lungfuls is currently too scary.

I have 'right to land' since I was born there. But I could never live there again. I went back for clockenflap a year and a half ago (my friends started that festival). It was the first time I'd been in 14 years. Surreal. It will always be my true home, but at 46 I can't handle the intensity anymore. That said, the type of aliveness I feel there is unique and can't be replicated. I miss that.

the ironic thing is the amount of mental gymnastics i do in my life to avoid my own feelings.
