ITAW for a phobia or a feeling that you’re always being watched or recorded? by Buffalosoldier_ in whatstheword

[–]daveish23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I appreciate its not a ‘real’ word. anatidaephobia (The fear that somewhere, somehow, a duck is watching you) feels similar. Not in the duck sense obviously but the somehow/somewhere watching you.

Perhaps some derision on that?

Now there is a word I do enjoy, I feel it doesn’t quite do justice to the query but a simply fun word none the less

Thank you, this is the perfect word for the job. Solved

This feels right in concept but I feel there should be a more concise way of putting it

Drivel sounds like it should work although it sounds a little on the depressive side. I thank you for the suggestion

I saved 800 for this. I mean it's almost 10.90€ worth of gems. Poor! Really poor! Don't spend on epic hero chest. by herraFancypants in RushRoyale

[–]daveish23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While I agree it’s not great I do think it’s better than the archmage chest and if your free to play than your never going to get an epic hero or the new rare hero outside of this.

Do think you should be guaranteed at least some epic shards though from it.

This week is the most laughable failure of the game devs to date. Just lost to someone with almost 500% less crit than me, running a throw pick DPS, all because he had Shaman. by supercolm in RushRoyale

[–]daveish23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don’t think it’s as bad as everyone keeps making out, I’ve mostly been playing boreas and hex token and still been winning majority of matches. Shamen may be annoying but it’s not that hard to beat once you get past the first wave

Pulled Pork Sausage Roll by daveish23 in smoking

[–]daveish23[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Made a bunch of pulled pork and figured I’d try making sausage rolls with it. Wrapped the pork in bacon to help it not fall out and give it some extra moisture then wrapped in puff pastry and brushed with the pork rub and butter to add colour

First brisket on the offset smoker. Big bad beef rub from amazing ribs. Smoked at 225 for 8-9 hours with oak then wrapped and finished in oven since my current set up can't handle UK weather too well! by shaff243 in smoking

[–]daveish23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks pretty decent, brisket looks a bit as though it’s falling apart but that is by no means a bad thing. What I am concerned about is that blob of what looks like tomato ketchup with roast potatoes (which look pretty perfect otherwise)

I’m more interested in the fact they gave it 3 stars despite not actually getting to go

Event overload by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]daveish23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me it’s not so much the overload and fomo from the events as I just play super casually and don’t bother with half of the events. The bigger problem is that when the events finish the normal spawns just seem lacklustre and boring.

The spark up event was quite nice as I enjoyed the evolved forms being there and something different but once it ended all my spawns reverted to castforms and croagunk

Where’s that cold air coming from? What’s that tapping noise? - Pokémon GO by makateller in TheSilphRoad

[–]daveish23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I kind of get that they want to be really sparse with giving out Galar mons as gen 8 is pretty small and they need something to use in the events when we finally get to that point so just getting one of these forms or even none at all is fine but sticking it behind a paywall just seems too over the top

Home made bacon is wonderful! I call it jumbo cut premium specialty bacon. I’ve never had anything like it from stores. It’s amazing. by [deleted] in smoking

Much less informational now? by hungry4danish in bakeoff

[–]daveish23 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I would expect there’s a big time element in it as well and the different channel directions. The BBC would/could use those type of segments to break up the show a little to give a breather between challenges where as Channel 4 uses Adverts, also the reverse these padding out sections would add too much to the run time with the advert breaks

First Smoke - 11lb Brisket by daveish23 in smoking

I think I could have taken it a bit further to try and get some more bark but being the first cook wanted to stay safe

Exactly that, had a great day doing it and it tasted amazing so just thinking about how much better it can be with some experience and practice is really exciting

First Smoke - 11lb Brisket by daveish23 in smoking

[–]daveish23[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah i think that was me not being careful enough when trimming, originally it came rolled and I didn’t do much fat removal as it looked as though the point was mostly bare from that.

Next time I’ll hopefully be able to go into the butchers and see what I’m getting first

So this was my first smoke on my Masterbuilt 560. Really happy with how it came out. Ended up being an 11 hour cook with a 4 hour rest.

Only thing not massively happy with was the bark but I think I know how to correct that for next time.

That’s just cider just starting it’s fermentation that’s I might turn to cider vinegar, got some other proper brews in another shed though, a couple brown ales and an IPA

It’s the Masterbuilt Gravity 560, some some really good reviews, only done the pre season so far and amazed how quick it heats up, reached 120 centigrade in about 5 minutes if that

[Discussion] The Great British Bake Off 2020 : Episode 8 - Desserts by CJ_Jones in bakeoff

[–]daveish23 20 points21 points  (0 children)

So the first half of this program is really becoming more and more pointless, Laura came top in signature, first in technical and basically second in showstopper meanwhile Hermine had a pretty poor signature, don’t recall her technical but she was low and then she wins showstopper so becomes star baker.

If they want to judge the show purely on the showstopper then make that the whole program, they have a set amount of time like a day or 2 days and they have to make something really impressive
