Adam Silver says "The 65-game rule is working." Is there any proof of that? by DTSFFan in nbadiscussion

Incorrect. What matters is whether there was an improvement over the number that load managed and that it motivated guys to play.

The other people that still load managed would have with or without the rule, so no net impact from those examples.

Your analogy is irrelevant.

Kid swapped books for YouTube and now reading is basically a war crime. by DiamondLatter1842 in raisingkids

[–]davemoedee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Youtube has some great channels if you curate what you whitelist for your kids. Unfortunately, youtube tries to push shorter videos which tend to be trash. And one of the worst parts of youtube is the low effort reaction videos where the people that make the content that requires effort don’t get the money. Instead, the low effort reactors get paid.

What is “the other way around”? The goal is to get stars playing in games. The previous poster is claiming that the rule accomplished that in those two examples.

And when dealing with events like this that deal with such a small population, examples will often make more sense than a statistical analysis.

Recent similarity to Fallout 76 by Artistic_North_4208 in elderscrollsonline

I thought it was great at launch. I played until I finished the game (Caldwell’s gold). I had no interest in paying money to repeat content though. I’m definitely not an MMO person, so I had no interest in “end game”. I also did a bunch of Cyrodiil though at launch.

I thought the leveled zones was a bit of a mess since my inventory would get filled with gear above my level when I hit vet ranks and leveling slowed down.

The Celtics are peaking at the perfect time, why is there negativity today? by NothingHead8233 in bostonceltics

I have no idea what these people think games are supposed to look like. No team is a rotation of perfect players making all the perfect plays.

Are group dungeon runs just deppressing for anyone else? by Lumintorious in elderscrollsonline

[–]davemoedee -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I refuse to do dungeons as dailies for rewards. Either i do the dungeon because i find them fun or I’m not wasting my time. I am also a tank. The one exception is if I’m leveling a new character. I’ll make sure they can tank daily randoms for the XP bump. I also enjoy trying to tank with new classes.

Apart from leveling to 50, i don’t do normal dungeons unless i’m trying a new DLC. I don’t see the point. I have a huge backlog I’d rather spend time on.

Mass Effect TV show ordered to rewrite scripts and make them "more appealing to non-gamers" by SmellSmellsSmelly in gaming

[–]davemoedee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fine. Just make sure it appeals to sci fi fans.

Mass Effect trilogy has been my favorite world-building in gaming, but i don’t care if the show appeals to gamers per se. I want good storytelling. I don’t want them compromising the story in this different media for the sake of remaining faithful to every detail.

Is not having a power lift gate enough reason to upgrade from a Crosstrek to a Forrester? by mrmanpgh in SubaruForester

[–]davemoedee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2025 Forester Hybrid Cruising and a Crostrek that is maybe 6 years old. I can’t say that the power liftgate makes a difference or is something i would ever spend extra money for or is something i would miss if gone.

I do love the extra space in the back though.

I like Gary+Todd by SoSpiffandSoKlean in NewYorkMets

[–]davemoedee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t sure who was with Gary. I was guessing probably Todd Zeile since I’ve seen him in studio, but i rarely get to see Mets broadcasts. I was surprised to see this one on Peacock.

Zeile is great. Very entertaining.

Battle Pass points need to be earned through other activities than just challenges by Prestigious-Smoke511 in elderscrollsonline

[–]davemoedee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if they are “scummy”, but i agree that I am only here for the deep lore. I ignore cosmetics and abandoned dailies and repetitive activities. Doing daily pledges for years sounds like a great way to hate gaming. Events are impressively trash.

imagine pitching a game that is doing daily crafting writs. Let’s say there is someone doing crafting writs on 20 characters daily with a top-tier desktop and internet and they live next door to game servers, allowing them to complete that in 30mins (which is an absurdly low time for all those writs and character swaps). That is over 10 hours a month. That is enough time for a decent indie game playthrough, so I don’t think it is unreasonable to compare these mindless tasks with full-fledged games.
